First of all you should always consult your doctor first. It would seem to me that excercises done in the water such as a swimming pool might be effective and also excersises perhaps with isometrics and possibly involving some kind of weight training regimen but not with super heavy weights. Talk to your doctor to see if any might be effective.

Faith, first of all believing you re not confined to the thought that you wont walk again. Then, ankle weights so you can strengthen your legs. Finally abdominal exercises, which is dual purposed for working your primary muscles, and you back as a secondary muscle.

Swimming sounds like your best option. However, you would have to get your doctors permission to pursue any type of exercise. He can also prescribe physical therapy if he thinks it's warranted. Just make an appointment and talk to him about your options. Good luck.
