I have just found that there was one hanging from our front door upon our return from vacation in the 1960s. I have nowhere to file this. I don't know where to begin. A friend thought it may have been voodoo/hoodoo?

It means that chicken really pissed somebody off. They hung it from the nearest object.

In Vodou, Hoodoo, and Santeria chickens are used mostly for cleansings and offering to the lwa or orisha. I practice Vodou, familiar with Santeria, and currently learning Hoodoo......I have not come across anything like this. However it was a long time ago. If nothing has happened since then dont worry about it.
Also someone said it was a spell if there are people who practice around you....if they are around you, you probably would not know. We are quiet about what we do because then many would not accept us as neighbors. I tell people on the internet because I would never meet any of you. However I have to live and I dont want to be harrass or anything.
If it is still bothering you then I suggest talking to a reputable mambo or hougan. They are priests in Vodou and they should be able to give you some answers. I am not a priest just a servitor.

Depends on where you live... if you live in a place where voodoo is practiced, it could be indicative of a spell.
Elsewhere, it could be a prank...

Yes this was part of mojo vodo , and this dead chicken was "YOU" , if it was hung on your door or in your garden !
