I have discovered that we live in a very mayo-happy country here in the US. So many times I have ordered sandwiches asking them to hold the mayo only to bite into them and be very unpleasantly suprised. Have you had similar experiences? Why are the mayonnaise haters so discriminated against? I for one would love to know!!

I can feel your pain 100%. i HATE mayo and it is hard to go somewhere and know what the burger has on it. And they very rarely listen when you are specific!

I am pleased and relieved to open up your question and find all these people who fell like I do! I too thought I must be some kind of freak. I hate everything about mayo--the taste, the slightly gelatinous texture, the way it masks whatever actually tastes GOOD in your food. Friends have sometimes said, "Oh, you'd change your mind if you made your own homemade mayonnaise." Well, I accepted the challenge a month or so back, and it came out just the way it was supposed to.......One word: YECCCCH. Never again.

I do not like mayonnaise either. Do not like the taste and am averse to things that have raw egg in them.
I have stopped eating Mcchicken sandwiches as the staff at maccy's have an inability to understand the words I do not like mayo please can I have one without!! Makes me feel sick biting into a mcchic sand and getting a huge gobful of the vile stuff.
Urggh!!

I hate it too and you are not alone. Many people I know say they hate mayonnaise only to eat it in chicken or shrimp salad. I have actually built up an intolerance to it. If I eat anything without prior knowledge of it containing the dreaded goop it will make me ill. I love being able to turn finger sandwiches down and not feel guilty. I'm not making myself sick because everyone wants me to eat a warm egg and vinegar byproduct..

I like mayonnaise in small quantities (and mayonnaise NOT salad cream). But yes, fast food places do put too much mayonnaise in their food so the best thing is to eat somewhere else. How about indian/chinese/italian or any other country that has food that doesnt use lots of mayonnaise.

I was someone who didn't like mayonnaise because I had never tried it. However, they put it on my sandwich and I enjoyed it. I don't think I would eat spoon-fulls of it, but it's not too bad. Just think how they put mayo on hamburgers in Canada...yuck.

There are many people who dislike mayo. Many restaurants serve sandwiches premade or a set way.

no you are not alone!! I grew up in ahouse that had mayo for a condiment. Mom HATED miracle whip, which I loved ,because of the sweet taste. I will not ever use mayo in my home... it is either miracle whip, or nothing..... i use a variety of mustareds, I like dijon, hubby likes sweet/hot, and the kids like honey mustard. The kids like ketchup, ( gross, it looks like congealed blood!) and so, i don't like mayo, it reminds me of ***. and i don't like the taste.

I can't stand mayo..it smells like rotten eggs.

Are you ready for this one..Why...because my mother use to wash my hair in it for a conditioner.

I think someone told her it was a good idea..ever since.. I can't even open the jar..if someone in my family wants mayo on somthing..they have to do it them selves.

YUCK!!!
