Doesn't this betray a kind of doubt that paradise is good?

They do not believe in God. But many still blame God when things go wrong.

Paradise has different meaning to different people. To me it is just a term for a very beautiful location or being at a really good point in my life. My personal beliefs do not have anything to do with it.

Christians don't have a patent on "paradise". It has several meanings.

The abode of righteous souls after death; heaven.
An intermediate resting place for righteous souls awaiting the Resurrection.
A place of ideal beauty or loveliness.
A state of delight.

The last two meanings are ours. Why do Christians still refer to "logical" when common sense is involved?

I agree with goldwing. Paradise is an idea/word.

Maybe they are saying paradise!! (def: a place of extreme beauty, delight, or happiness. )

Plua, you can't clump all atheists together. Everyone is different and say different things and mean different things!

Common idiom in our culture's language. People also say the 'devil is in the details' (they don't mean the real devil). Or scientists such as Einstein used terms such as 'God doesn't play dice' to reflect his displeasure with quantum physics. He didn't mean that there's a god that plays dice (or that god as a deity is real); what he meant is that the implications from quantum physics that we can't accurately predict anything (only give probabilities) can't be real (he was proven wrong, btw).

While it can, the word paradise doesn't necessarily refer to anything religious.

'Paradise' = 'a world without asinine questions'.

I also say "oh my god" and "what the hell." It's a habit, not an expression of belief.
