'It's my opinion that the bible is Not the word of God. Looking at the old and new testaments,it's a conglomeration of stories put together by God only knows who. Think about it. There is a vicious god and a merciful god.It recorded simply what was needed to control the masses at that time; ya know, like the 60's{if it feels good,do it,love everybody} and today{call your lawyer and sue your neighbor till they bleed} . The man was misguided. How can anyone in good conscience guide anyone with the bible. And yes, I was raised a christian, catholic. If there is an after life, maybe he won't be united with his parents. Think about this. It's a belief that there is an after life.Be honest, it's a hope. Much less if we will be united with people we knew here.I pray to God ,and at this point in my life I want and hope there is a heaven. I'm 65yrs.old and well, gettin' near the end here. But I harbor the thought that I'll have something to look forward to; that's natural .But if there isn't well that's it. I will no longer exist. I'm not going to suffer eternity in flames.Wow, look at that; always lookin' on the bright side.

As we read in the story of Job, God tells Job basically "Who are you to question what I do? Were you there when the foundation of the world was made? Did you have a hand in creating this universe?" In other words we are the created and not the creator. God works in mysterious ways and the bottom line is we do not have any right to question God on anything. We were formed from the dirt while the Almighty God has and always will exist. Who are we really to question what He does? The answer is none of us do. The awesome thing is is that He has revealed himself to us through his son, Jesus Christ and that if you will repent of your sins and trust Him to save you on Judgment Day the Bible says that He will! The Bible says we all deserve Hell, and God is just in saying so because each and every one of us has offended His holy nature by sinning against Him. God and sin cannot coexist, therefore sinful man cannot go to Heaven. Period. But God is loving and merciful in this: while we are still sinners Christ died for us to bridge the gap between God and man. If we will accept this, we can go to Heaven also. Whoever says that they could not stand to be in Heaven because of their parent's desire to ignore the truth of the Bible and stay in their sins eternally separated from God is a fool. Why would anyone do this? Because they loved their parents. I love my dad but because he is an unbeliever doesn't mean that I would follow him into Hell. I love God more than anything for what He has done for me and for the whole human race. Why can't people get that?

Secondly, nobody gets united in Hell. It is eternal separation where there is great weeping and gnashing of teeth. Why do you think there is great weeping? Maybe because you will be eternally reminded of what you would've had in Heaven. Don't judge God, accept his love and let Him heal you.

A) He has his free will. He did not want to be with God, so he will not. If he died as 12 I think that he could have still gone heaven. But 43 is definitely an age that he knows what he wants.

B)Buddhist do not believe in God, so his parents are not going to be in heaven. It is if these bad and sad things happen, because they will..it is where you are at the moment with your walk with Christ. I do not know if there is such a thing as family reunion in hell. But looks from your story that the family ended up in there by their choice.

Christianity emcompasses a lot of church denominations. The largest, Catholic, do NOT preach this nonsense. They preach that if you live a good life, are kind to others, do not break the 10 commandments, you are a good person and headed to heaven. Dogmatic Protestant churches seem to have gotten so far off track from what religion is suppose to give its followers, it is ridiculous. I would have a hard time accepting the line of reasoning presented to this guy, any church that holds itself as the ony "True Religion" is suspect, and he certainly joined his parents, in "heaven," if that happens at all. Good luck and Peace.

since I am not God and neither is anyone here - we cannot answer the question of whether or not this boy or his parents are in hell. We cannot judge the heart or intent of another.
I dont think he chose the right path because that is a path of self exaltation- believing that he knew better than God and refusing to trust- but no one knows the state of his heart or his parents at the time of their death.

This reminds me of a parable in buddhism that talks about real spirituality and compassion. The parable has some selfless monk saying that he hopes to go to hell because it's only there that he can help with suffering. And it's all about not wanting anything for himself -- especially not the ego-based striving of doing good to get an eternal reward (that is the FOUNDATION of the self/ego). I saw a video recently where a preacher is talking about how jesus can come at any moment and then ... 'poof' ... the preacher and 85% of the congregation disappear (showing that jesus came and took his believers with him) and the rest were left crying (representing those who weren't prepared). This is HORRIBLE and it's ALL about worship of the self/ego -- all about doing good and striving and obeying to 'make it into heaven'. This is the ROOT of all problems -- the worship of the self.

Always assume that Everybody made it to Heaven. Then get there yourself.
GOD Almighty is the Great Judge, HE is over Time (HE can expand a Second for however Long HE wants) and can Reach People at the Last Second befor Death.
GOD Almighty has SECRETS, alway assume they made it to HEAVEN.
GOD is GOOD.

A) I do understand his decision, and can not really say if he was right or wrong. It was his choice, and he made it. If I were in his place, I may have done the same thing or maybe not, can't really say.
B) I don't think it works that way. I don't think that our souls, up there (in heaven) or down there (in hell), will be reunited with their family's souls.

As a believer myself, I would have advise him to pray for his parents. His prayer could save them all. But, we don't know for sure if he weren't saved.

A) No, he wasn't right. If he had found the truth, why would he openly ignore it? You can't choose people over God.

B) No again. I don't think that anything pleasant, like uniting with loved ones, happens in hell. You just suffer and suffer until, depending on your branch of Christianity, either forever or your soul ceases to exist.

i think that the priest was wrong. it's a man's decision what he believes in, no matter what. Nobosy says that Christianity is the one true religion. it might be muslin or buddhism or hindu. nobody knows. I think it was in his power to take that decision, because he is the only one to decide for his life. Noone says that if you don't follow a religion, you just go to hell. it depends on how you rule your life - if you are generous, honest, marciful, modest and so on.
