If you look at history you can is it is a violent religion that trys to get converts anyway possible. Even during the time of Mohamed when he was forced into exile to Madina he got a group of followers and decleared war on Mecca. What better way then to inspire his army then through god him self. Islam was spread through the sord but it would be ignerent for me not to say the same thing about Christanity, but there is one difference Islam is not stoping it's violent ways. Christanity did stop and is now is trying win converts through peace and not violence.

To be honest if you take some ayats out of contest then obviously it isn't going to make any sense.
One ayat you quoted actually describes what you would do during a war, so if someone comes to kill you in the case they had time ago it was (suprisingly) a non-believer, so should you allow them to come kill you or you kill them, basic human instinct you'd try to kill them.
But if you read further in that particular surah you would have seen that if someone said they surrender it was the muslims' duty to escort that person to a safe place so that they would not be harmed.
You obviously just like reading random muslim hate sites and copy and paste them, get real and open your eyes the world is not black and white.
Notice I did not say infidel as you said because this term is not an Islamic one, it came from the Christians during the times of the Crusades peacful that the followers of Chrsitianity were!

This is how Islam has spread in the past. If they have an advantage , they loot and plunder while screaming verses from the Quran justifying their actions. As soon as the chips are down and they start getting whacked, the peace full Muslims who are silent till then, come out of the wood works claiming ,the non Muslims have twisted the real Islam and only a very microscopic baddies are giving Islam a bad name. They remain silent when they are wining in order to benefit from the loot. They have played this double game thought out history and only of late their strategy has been exposed in the west due to much better and faster communications.

There should be some dialog coming up, since the reaction to Pope Benedict XVI comments caused such an uproar in some Muslim nations. Certainly the terrorist and the severing of limbs for punishment do not speak of kindness or peace. the violent acts are abundant, and patience or tolerance are not to be seen in their leadership.

I believe Muhammad created Islam because he wanted the blessings that God had promised Issac. He believed that Ishmael and his lineage are the true beneficiaries of Gods promised blessings to Abraham's son Issac (legitimate). As a result...well.....see this frustration being played out throughout the world today. God proposes Love as a means to share faith and witness to others.......not violence and death!

Islam can be spiritual and celebrate god's love (e.g. look at the sufis, rumi in particular). And it can be used for hate (given that it has an ego-based projection of a god). The SAME can be said for christianity. And the reason is that both religions make god into a projection of our own ego thought systems of separation, judgement, attack, reward, etc.

Yes Islam is a peace loving religion. You misinterpreting the Holy book. Its very harmful to just take a few quotes from a religious text and think it relates to a whole religion. I advise you to read whole Quran, acknowledge it then ask questions. Religions teach good things.
A lot of people who call themselves Christians don't follow the teachings of Christ. bible says: "Thou shalt not kill; and whosoever shall kill shall be in danger of The Judgment" can you imagine how many people killed by these mass murderers: Timothy McVeigh, KKK, Bush and Milosevic, who killed millions of Muslims in Bosnia, were Christian.
The Crusaders were Christians and they massacred 5 million Jews and Muslims (including women and children) and even ate their flesh during their capture of Jerusalem.
Edit: You tell me, Is Christianity really a peaceful religion?

Off course Islam not a peace full religion, If your religion other than Islam think Islam is peace full. Please try to live in the Islam country for 5 year at least. You will know how many Christians have been killed, tortured. How many Church have been forced to close, burn down or maybe bomb. How many pastor have been killed or tortured. I suggest you move to Indonesia. The largest Muslim community in the world
If Muslim think Christians not a peace full religion, Please see Muslim who live in the US, are they in danger, did any mosque got burn down or blow up. Any of the Imam got killed or tortured. The answer is NOOOOO.

I think you need to add context to these Surah's which are explained in the following:

No point in quoting these Surahs and making allegations against Islam - its just as bad as those Muslims who use these Surah's (verses) without context to justify their actions.

Ok. first of all, you probably got the wrong translation of those Quranic verses because there are alot of wrong translations out there. Make sure you are getting authentic ones. Where in the world did you get those translations from anyway? I suggest you go this website: http://www.usc.edu/dept/MSA/quran/
Scroll down to Translations of the Qur'an and every chapter of the Qur'an will be there with translation. hope this helps.
