does anyone know a placeto put my dogs for a short period of time?

I donn't know if there are such things as foster care for dogs. Ifound a place that takes military animals but nothing else. We live in Indiana and need to put them somewhere for about 6 monnths. Help...

If you use a kennel, it will be very expensive and your dogs may have severe behavior problems when you come back. A pet sitter who keeps dogs in their house is a good idea; they may give you a discount for that length of time. Have a local relative or friend check on the dogs frequently to make sure they are being properly cared for.

Be wary of anyone who says that they are willing to foster your dogs for free - they may intend to keep the dogs for themselves or sell them to a laboratory or use them for pit bull bait.

If you can't find anyone, it might be best to put them up for adoption and get them a good permanent home - although it's a terrible choice for you.

check the news papers and online in your area for information about boarding kennels and k-9 obedience schools. If you are going to a hotel for that time period, also check, some hotels allow animals. another place to check is" doggy day care" sometimes they also have a service where a worker contracted to them will visit your home and take care of your pet. also check with your vet. What ever you do, if you use an agency that comes to your home, make sure they are"bonded" (it prevents them from getting away with stealing or damaging things in your home.)
