If this happens out of the blue, then it is likely that you have a disease process of some kind going on. It could include any number of things, such as a tumor or a cyst, and you need to have it diagnosed and treated. This means you need to see your doctor, who will probably refer you to a neurologist for diagnosis, or your dentist, who will probably refer you to an oral surgeon for treatment.

This happens because what we taste as "sour" is actually an acid, usually citric acid (though not always). That means enough will kill the first layer of skin on your tongue, like a minor sunburn. Its not dangerous, but it does hurt! You could try drinking sips of milk in between sour things to neutralize the acidity in your mouth, but once the damage is done you really just need to let it heal.

Numbness usually arises from damage or disease of nerves. Numbness is often associated with or preceded by abnormal pain-like sensations often described as pins-and-needles, prickling or burning sensations; these are called paresthesias. Numbness is loss of sensation whereas paralysis usually involves both the loss of the ability to move the area and loss of sensations. The term "numbness" is also sometimes used to refer to emotional numbness or detachment. Any numbness or abnormal sensation symptoms need prompt professional medical advice.

Numbness sometimes is related to MS disease. Please see your Dr. immediately.
