You are the me of 2 months ago, asking very similar questions!!! Well done.

Yes, they can be spiritual. It doesn't require a God to believing spirits.

We are all spiritual beings. We are born with an innate sense that there is a great spirit, and we are more than flesh, and there is more than what is tangible to the five senses.
It is as simple as that. I don't know why people have to make it more complicated. The religious beliefs we choose stem from that. People who think there is some 'spiritual trap' they might fall into if they have spiritual beliefs are really living a life of stone cold fear- they are so afraid of their minds being taken over, that they let it be taken over by negative spiritual forces.

Everybody is spiritual because everybody believes in something. "Well, I believe this.....or, I believe that because........." An atheist believes in himself and nothing else. An agnostic believes there must be a God, but you can't possibly know this God. A Hindu believes in millions of gods. Etc. Therefore, we shouldn't be asking if nonbelievers can be spiritual but why are we spiritual and why are our beliefs catered to a certain deity? The Bible explains everything you need to know, yet it is spiritually discerned. Anyone who is not a born-again believer in Jesus Christ cannot decipher it's spiritual meaning because it was written by the Holy Spirit of God. If you are a non-believer, try it sometime and the reading will be as dry as sandpaper and as boring as watching paint dry. But to the born-again it is spiritual milk and meat, a feast for the soul. A Christian feasts on the
Word of God and delights in His ways. Mighty and true.

Non-believers in what? Or who? If you're referring to people who don't practice a religious tradition, then yes they can be spiritual. Some people may like denying it, but we're hardwired for it -- to ask questions about what we can't account for through our own efforts. To not be spiritual would require a literalness a rational human being should never aspire to. To be spiritual required the recognition that there are certain things in life we will not be able to account and/or explain through our sensory perceptions. They can only be experienced, and the fact that we are capable of that experience makes us all spiritual.

Absolutely. I'm an atheist and I consider myself very spiritual -- the mystery of existence, the unity taught by quantum physics. My friend is a VERY spiritual zen student and he's an atheist. Religious writer Karen Armstrong talks about the basis of real spirituality and how the afterlife is a 'red herring'. Spirituality is all about getting rid of this false identification with the body and the psychological self - the ego. One zen master we heard said that we're convinced we are this 'bag of skin' (those who experience otherwise see themselves as EVERYTHING and the issues of life and birth and death completely go away -- read '3 pillars of zen' for more info).

I am very spiritual and I am an atheist, I try to help others, I love everyone, I try to make things better in my life and others and I don't know where we go from here but I want to be able to look over my shoulder and see everything I left has been made a bit better .

What I call spirituality is what many atheist call thinking or daydreaming. In my mind, they are some of the most spiritual people in regards of knowledge seeking and living life in the now.
Sometimes although, I may have alienated myself from a few atheist friends trying to explain them this so, here it is okay. Anonymity is present and I can use it.

Yes I think people who choose not to believe in a deity or deities can still be spiritual. I think religion is a byproduct of spirituality and not the other way around. Therefore, every human has the capability of being spiritual but not all choose to be religious.

Not if you don't believe in anything at all, of course not - spiritual means relating to sacred or religions matters or values. I mean, you wouldn't even think you had a spirit to be spiritual with. But if you believe in some sort of higher power or something but not in organized religion, you can be spiritual.

'Spiritual' yes..... spiritual No
I dont believe there is a spiritual world like the one often claimed by Christians,Muslims, clairvoyants etc. I do believe there is a 'spirit' world of sorts that we live in right now. My words here are 'spirit', the way i am and conduct myself is 'spirit'. You know, all those things that make a person the type of person they are, besides their physical characteristics.
