Whiskey is a good appetizer. But water is best for accompanying the meal. After dinner schnapps is just fine.

If there is no appetizer then a glass of red dry wine is great accompanying the main meal.

And if there is no appetizer or main dish drink then beer after dinner is often considered. Both dark or light.

it depends on the meal! each of the liquors you have mentioned goes very well with some things and very badly with others.
