when u get really hungry u just go to bed and sleep when u wake up u may feel a bit better then from there on just read the Qur'an or any book of interest or just watch tv.........

and by the way i would like to disprove haji for him suggesting that you use a toothbrush and not mouthwash NOTHING is to go into your mouth except the water you will have to use during ablution (wodhu) and if you feel thirsty you may gargle water (but make sure you don't swallow it)
because there is a hadith that states that Allah prefers the breath of a fasting person than the scent of musk

Do you for a first time fasting ?The abjective of fasting among others is to feel as a poor person that can not affoerd eating and drinking for a whole day.In order to keep your mind off of food you are better praying and reading holy Qur'an or hadith book. You must read also its meaning in your own language so you have an indepth knowledge of Islamic teaching and you will get a good rewards from Allah the only one God.You must have enough breakfast before dawn that is called sahur. In the sahur there is the favour from Allah. You should have more activities during the day before breaking your fasting so you can forget your mind to food.By enough breakfast in sahur you will not feel so hungry
during the day..You must avoid doing activities which will need more energy. If you want to do a physical exercise you must take a light sport such as walking or stationary bicycling..In breaking your fasting it is better if you first eat sweet meal such as dates, sweet porridge with green beans and coconut milk and sugar etc..I hope your fasting will be received by Allah and get a good rewards.

I think about all the people who don't know when or where there next meal will be... now is the time to spend doing good deeds....i like the fact that i can feel hunger and do nothing about it..or be so very thirsty and not take one drop of water.. that is what will make you a stronger person.. so many people suffer each and everyday...think of that and it doesn't seem to be that hard to accomplish...

If you must fast, then do whatever work you must do, and then if entertaining yourself by doing the things that you like, doesn't take your mind off the food idea, then go to SLEEP, it always helps, you fall a sleep and don't feel the time.
Also if you just feel hungry that’s okay, but if you experienced strong headaches, you should stop fasting, that’s what I think.

First you should not complain of feeling hungry. Be thankful that this is one month and not what millions of people have to go though every day. This is not a time to sleep the hunger away either like many people said. Fill you time with worship and ask Allah to help you. Even if your not hungry you should fill your time with worship. This is Ramadan after all.

May Allah help you dear sister.

Ramadan is a time to get that extra prayer in so pray a lot and read Quran. And dont think about food think about all the blessings you will get from fasting this blessed month plus all your sins forgiven insha allah, alhumduliah I love Islam how merciful Allah is!

Reading Qur'an
Praying
Listening to Khutbahs

all are good ways to "distract" you from the hunger

I make an extra effort to get up early during Ramadan to have a SMALL breakfast.. like yogurt and fruit and then a cup of coffee. The caffine helps a LOT!

BUT you have to get it all in your body before fajar!!!!

Also, it is permitted to use a toothbrush, but not to use things like mouthwash... so if you have a place that sells miswak then you could easily hold that in your mouth during the day as it will keep your mouth busy but will not break your fast.

Some people may suggest that you chew gum, but this is NOT allowed.

Just don't eat. Its not that hard. I'm probably alot younger than you (probably more than five years) and I can last. The whole reason of fasting is to realize how fortunate you are, and how little other people have. It is also a way of becoming closer with God.
