I have seen it happen. Love has freed many from the shackles of self-hate, morbid sadness, and the weight of constant defeat. Love makes an "other" important, central to our existence. And through that we eventually understand our own humanity. Without it we are truly prisoners of the dark gravity of useless, sterile narcissism.

Real love should feel like freedom. If the actual love of someone entailed trying to change who they are, it would not feel that way for either partner. Real love is the admiration of 100% of someone. That includes the respect of acceptance of the person.

I do not mean that it cannot change. Most of the time, it does, but if you're lucky, and IN LOVE with some one & not just loving them as in (caring about them) and it is a right and just love, a respectful love, and a love without lies, or expectations, you may be lucky, and feel that freedom forever!

There are many different kinds of love, some will imprison you , the only love that can set you free is the love that the Holy Spirit gives to us.For by this men will know that you are my disciples , that you have love one for another.

Yes, especially God's love. Even in love between people, the best kind of love is love that allows a certain amount of freedom.

God's love has truely set me free. I lived as an enemy of God untill I was 40 years old.
He loved me when there was nothing about me to love. To prove His love, He gave me Jesus Christ Who both saved me and healed me. That was 8 years ago. Life isn't perfect but, my worst day knowing Him is better than my best day befor I knew Him.

We are worth aSon to God.

in the usage of GOD loving mankind enough to send HIS SON JESUS to set mankind free the answer is yes. if one refers to loving another mortal and binding one to another such as marriage would say no because this a different situation. when these two examples are compared I say in my personal opinion " it depends on how one uses the word. "

To me, love is acceptance, peace, tolerance, kindness, patience, forgiveness.... Love is overcoming the need to control and change things.
So I would have to say, yes, love does set one free.
