Risa ( answer number 1 ) is right on. Fruits are good but veggies are better as far as nutritional value. But birds love a variety so its best to have some of both. Advacado, chocolate and anything with caffine in it are the only things I know of human food wise that could kill a bird with a single serving.

Any kind of fruit is okay. My parrot like apples, nectarines, bananas. I don't give apples with seeds still in them because there is mixed opinion on whether the seeds have enough cyanide in them to cause problems but why chance it? Birds can eat anything that is not salty or high in fat. Also, no chocolate, caffeine, or avocado as these last three are toxic to birds.

Birds, just like people are picky eaters. My African Grey LOVES pomegranates. Depending on the type of bird you have, try to find fruits that they would naturally eat in their wild habitat. For instance, in tropical climates birds like pineapple, banana's, coconut, kiwi and fruits like these. Small birds generally like berries and fruits with small seeds in them. I find that while that will settle for apples and pears, it is not the choice of most birds. Oranges also tend to be a little strong and take some time to adjust to.

Hi!
Feeding birds on a fresh food diet is the best way to have a healthy long-lived companion!
Here's the standard diet for most pet birds (of course, for species who are naturally seed eaters like parakeets, finches, and cockatiels, increase the % of seed) of the parrot family:
Always use organic wherever possible!!
20% dark leafy greens: kale, chard, dandelion, mustard, bok choy
25% veggies: carrots, sweet potato, corn, peas, squash, red bell peppers, green beans, etc
15-20% fruits: focus on tropical varieties (pineapple, papaya, kiwi, mango) and berries over orchard types (apples, peaches), as they tend to be more nutritious, though some orchard fruits added in are good staples.
10% sprouted legumes/seeds/nuts: peas, beans, quinoa, millet, sunflower, etc
15% high quality pelleted diet: Foundation Formula, Harrisons, GoldenObles, IttyBitty Birdie Bites (for smaller species!)
10-15% (higher for seed eaters) high quality seed/nut mix and grains: GoldenFeast, Avian Naturals
Foods like Beak Apetite or Crazy Corn are super cooked meals that provide a wide assortment of things captive birds need - they're easy to prepare and you can use ice cube trays to freeze the batch into single serve cubes to be defrosted overnight in the fridge and served the next day.

anything except avacodo because it contains caffine. try all different kinds of fruit to see what they like. my african grey used to never eat apples. i would slice one up once in a while and offer it to him and he wasn't interested. then one day i was eating one and he decided he wanted a bite. so now i give him a WHOLE apple 3 or 4 times a week. it's his favorite fruit now, but the only way he'll eat it is if he get's a whole one instead of slices. my point is, if your birds don't like a certain fruit when you first offer it to them, try serving it in different ways, you'll be surprised. for example, if they turn their noses up at grapes, try slicing them in half, it could make a difference. other fruits to try are oranges, mango, kiwi, cherries, pomagranit(when in season), watermelon, bananas, and pinapple. different birds are going to like different fruits, just like humans do.

my bird always preferred juicier fruits, like mango. like the other answerers said, just experiment and see what your bird likes. they can eat almost everything that humans can eat, with some exceptions--ask your vet.
