Well, it does seem a bit hasty to me to take so much away from you for what you did. Now, I do agree, you do not take something without asking. Have you done this many times before and disrespect others belongings. I think maybe so. This is why your sister didn't get grounded but you did and severely.
I suggest, approaching your mom in a nice calm way (voice too) and talk to her. (Make your apologies to grandpa first). Let her know you did talk to grandpa and that you think so much punishement is alot. Ask her (after nice conversation) if you could please go to the party and that you will think the next time and ask and respect others belongings. Mean it when you say it, and not just say it. From the heart.
Also, you don't respect punishment as you are on the computer now. So YOU need to stop and think of your actions.

I would talk to your parents and find out why your sister didn't get grounded as well. Then apologize and learn from this situation. Ask the next time you want to borrow something and you won't get in trouble.

Sounds bad, but, you need to take care of yourself and do the right thing. What you did was wrong. Don't worry about others.
Also...sounds like there have been some things in the past that
were ignored and have and you just need one more infraction to set off punishment.

~~~unfourtunatly you took something that didnt belong to you with out permission,,,so you have to suffer the consequence. If your sister did the same thing,,,and did not get punished,,,that is not fair to you. And yes,,,,sometimes moms can "pms" and go a little overboard with their emotions,,,,can you talk to your mom?? if so,,,tell her you are truley sorry,,,you know what you did was wrong,,,,and it wont happen again. Hopefully that will calm her a little,,,, ~~~
It sounds like your old enough to know not to take things that don't belong to you. So, face the punishment like a person your age should, and don't take things that don't belong to you again. Grow up.
Something you need to learn is that "Someone else did it too!" is not a good excuse for doing something morally or legally wrong.
