I want a place where we are both relaxed and able to freely communicate. I don't like it when there are ppl walking back and forth. Anyone have any idea????

How about the park. Its open and public but not as confined as a coffee house , so you feel safe and comfy but not eclipsed.

Bars unfortunately are the easiest starting point, but you can go there not to just meet people, but also find out activities going on in the gay community. In larger towns there are often gay-oriented newspapers or magazines ("bar rags") that list different things going on, or perhaps even it's just a bulletin board. But the point is you can find out about gay sports leagues, bowling teams, Pride festival/parade commitees, gay-friendly churches, LGBT centers, motorcyle clubs, men's choruses, the list goes on. Get involved in some group and network with the guys you meet. Chances are you'll eventually find someone who is nice but not into the bar scene either. There are LOTS of guys out there who are over the bar scene, but you need to network to find them, since they may hit the bars rarely or never.
