i think homosexuality should be accepted by everyone. Why shouldnt someone be accepted by christians (ya know the all forgiving non-hateful group of liars)? Its a choice, and Im sure that christians "sin"... should they be forgiven??
ya know what.. this whole christianity thing is a joke. Do this, but dont do that.. .no wait.. you can to that but only if you ask a character in a book for forgiveness..
it makes no friggin sense and anyone with HALF a brain would realize that.
ITS JUST A BOOK. GOD IS NOT REAL AND NEITHER IS THE HELL OR THE DEVIL OR THE LAST FEAST OR ANY OF IT.
jesus christ, you people are all brainwashed hypocritical HATERS. Your kind should be taken to an insane asylum and left there to wait for your so called judgment day.
HARRY POTTER is a god. He too was written into a book that also has very many sequels.

Yes, and I am not an atheist. I know many really good homosexual people. they love God just as I do. They praise God just as I do. If you people would take more time trying to understand that 99% of the gay and lesbian population if they had a choice would not be gay. It has been proven by science that this is in the genes. This life style is not a choice. Therefore God created these people like that and God does NOT make mistakes. So to all of you people out there that are judging these people you really need to get some valid information on the subject. Also don't you know that the bible was written by man? That it if full of contradictions through out it? I studied it for years and years. It has never made any sense to me. God never would send his children to hell, if you really knew God you would also know that he is an ALL LOVING God. Not this creature who punishes his children. That is what reincarnation is for to clear up past debts. So please try to understand who these people are. Gays have as much right to love God as you and I do.
God Bless you...

I'm no atheist, but most atheists do know the bible very well.
It depends on how you interpret the bible - the bible doesn't have anything on homosexuality. However, if you're an evangelical/born again who interprets the bible literrally, then no, you can't be homosexual and a Christian at the same time.

Without caps lock:
I have no problems whatsoever with homosexuality. It exists, whatever some book happens to say.
I'm aware of a few sentences - especially in Leviticus (next to the shrimp), but there are several protestant churches that accept and bless gay marriages. They do this based on their understanding of the Bible, so I have no reason to tell them that they're wrong.
Further I define a 'Christian' to be 'anyone who says "I am a Christian"', so by that definition, somebody can certainly be gay and a Christian at the same time.
Don't know why they'd want to be, mind you.

If they know the bible well, they will not be able to deny what The Word has to say regarding homosexuality.
If you are a Christian, I hope that YOU know The Bible well enough to know that we should NOT challenge the unbeliever. We have too much work to do in the LIVE harvest to spend time searching through the dead fields.
Psalm 88:10
Wilt thou shew wonders to the dead? shall the dead arise and praise thee? Selah.
Ecclesiastes 9:3
This is an evil among all things that are done under the sun, that there is one event unto all: yea, also the heart of the sons of men is full of evil, and madness is in their heart while they live, and after that they go to the dead.
Luke 10:2
Therefore said he unto them, The harvest truly is great, but the labourers are few: pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he would send forth labourers into his harvest.
So, beloved, I say to you:
Revelation 14:15
...Thrust in thy sickle, and reap: for the time is come for thee to reap; for the harvest of the earth is ripe.
God bless!

A Christian is one who to a lesser or greater extent devotes himself to Christ's teachings. A homosexual is one who seeks a mate of the same gender rather than a different gender. The two things (Christianity and Homosexuality) have nothing to do with each other, so of course you can be one and still be the other. It's like asking 'Do you think someone can be warlike and violent and still be a Christian at the same time'? Of course they can. They simply aren't being the type of Christian that Christ might have hoped for.

Sure, I know several homosexuals who call themselves Christians. I don't know the Bible very well at all, but I know it condemns eating shrimp. And this doesn't seem to be a big problem, so I don't see how homosexuality has to be, either.

Only if you want to worship a deity that wants you dead.
Lev.18:22
Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination.
Lev.20:13
If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them.
Just to clarify. I am an atheist and although i am not a homosexual, I have absolutely nothing against it.
I do wish more homosexuals would speak out against their foremost oppressor which is the Bible.

Why do you want to know what atheists think about membership in the Christian church? That's like asking African pygmies whether Eskimos would do well at weaving baskets from palm leaves. We have no influence, no standing, and in general would encourage gay folks to find social support elsewhere.
But on to the substance of your question. Many churches accept gay people in membership, leadership, and ministry. Most do not. There is not a uniform approach, and to seek one is to be naive.
And regarding your Bible comment: There are just as many approaches to the Bible as there are denominations (and perhaps congregations). I do know the Bible very well, but at the same time, there are many denominations that consider the Bible on par with tradition, reason, and personal experience in making Christian moral decisions and assertions of theology.

I know the bible well enough. I don't have a problem with homosexuality. I don't consider a gay Christian to be any more or less deluded than a straight one.
And could you use an appropriate combination of upper and lower case letters? You just make yourself look like a nutter when you write like that.
