Emo stands for emotional.
Emo people are people who usually dress a certain way (usualy dark colors, but dont go as far as goth) and who listen to emotinal music (usualy depresing moody music ex: Hawthorne Heights), and act in that depressed manner.
Emo people are not goth, though they may be easily confused, then again it could also be said that emo is a form/branch of goth.
