Look, I wasn't born onto a religion, though some may have been followers because they were.
I didn't come to know Jesus Christ untill I was 40 years old. Before that I was only in a church a handful of times.
I believe God called me to Him. I was an addict for 25 years. I was in jail or rehabs many times. I finally found myself in a place that I'm sure my life was very near it's end. I was driving and I didn't know where I was going, I was only sure that, something was going to change.
At a stop light I looked up the hill on my right at a church I passed every day. I ended up in the pastor office and I admitted to him and to God that I was done. I was done running from God and now chose to run to Him.
In that moment, God through Jesus Christ both saved and healed me. My wife and I were both saved and baptised 1 month later.
I wasn't born into it, I was called.
We are worth a Son to God.

why do you think its so rare for people to determine their own religion? especially now... where spirituality is so much more important.
why is it so hard for YOU to accept that some people, there IS proof. that they experience and are shown things, by God, and by nature, and by simply living, that show that there is something bigger and orchestrating, behind everything?
personally I belive very different from most people around me, and while I am still of the same religion I was raised... thats simply because I was born into the one that was already correct. but I see it, and understand it, and view it, in a way very different from most people.
its simply part of life really. I know, and have been shown, and see that there IS an afterlife.
why does it bother you that others belive these things, unless you at some level know that theres something your missing? if you truly don't belive in it, then it shouldn't bother you at all that others DO belive it.
atheists have crisis of faith now and again too you know, ;-) because especially now, it takes as much faith for most people to NOT belive, as it does TO belive.

Who says that they believe "blindly"? Surely people do tend to belong to the same religion they were brought up on, but many, myself included, have grown into adulthood and asked some hard hitting questions and still believe what they were taught. For me I alone came to the conclusion that Jesus Christ is our savior and if you don't believe that then why don't you enlighten about a billion Christians and tell us all that You have discovered the truth and all of us are mistaken but be ready to back it up. There's a distinct difference between wanting to be different, and honestly looking at the facts. By the way, there's more than a billion reasons to believe in Jesus. I challenge you to find out what they are.

First of all, your assumption that everyone has blind faith isn't correct. Before I began studying the bible, I thought it was a book written by men, that's all. Ten years later, I have come to believe it is what it claims to be: inspired by God. And, no, where people are born doesn't determine their religion. Before even the foundations of the world were formed, God knows who were going to be His. He has called them out from every nation, kindred and tribe. It doesn't matter where you were born; if you are one of God's, He will find you.
I'm not blind, dear. On the contrary, there are none so blind as those who will not see.

Christianity is not blindly. There is proof everywhere that God exists. But, it is faith-based , just like evolution, or any other thing. God did not want to make us like robots, where we have to chose to follow him. He gave us a free will. It is our decision who we will follow.
Romans 1:20
For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:

i couldn't agree more....people need to read , and ask questions about a religion before following it....and follow only what feels right in your soul..I am giving a speech to a group of pagans in Nov about choosing your path and I am starting out with this statement....
"Every set of beliefs or religion has it's basic concepts and it's misconceptions. Your spiritual connection with the Divine is the most intimate personal relationship you will ever have. No one knows what path best expresses your own unique connection with a Higher Power, not ministers, not priests, not psychics, not your family, not your soul-mate, and not me."

Religion..No matter what culture, is in your heart. Believe what you believe!!!!If you don't, you don't. I'm not here to criticize, but remember whenever you've gotten away with something or asked for help, or just needed an answer to something. Whoever you pray to or not has heard and Once you realize you're dying you'll really have some questions or prayers that need to be answered.

i have wondered the same thing. i mean look back to early humans...before relegion...y didnt they have it then? if there is honestly a god...then theres a religion..right? y didnt they ahve 1? religion began much later when humans tried to explain the unexplainable...our existance, the beginging of the universe, nature, and so on. humans came up with "god" to explain these. early religions...greek mythology has been proven wrong. its just a matter of time before all are proved wrong and we get the answers to these "unexplainable" questions.

this is partly true as we are all products of the Culture and Society in which we were reared in. however, when a person is able to practice their free will after reaching adulthood they are able to explore and determine what other belief systems there are and choose which one they want to follow. because of free will and choice a person can follow their heart without being condemned by others in the Culture and Society especially in a country such as the U.S. where religious freedom is prevalent.
