Catholics explain their beliefs because:
+ Jesus commanded us to, "Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, until the end of the age." (Matthew 28:19-20)
+ There are many misconceptions about our beliefs.
+ It is impolite not to answer sincere questions, that's what Yahoo Answers is all about.
With love in Christ.

Why do people question God's existence?
Catholics like all other religions are trying to demonstrate that their God is God and therefore their way is the right way.
Sartre once argued that it is better to believe in God than not believe in God. Okay, but which God? If you read enough Bibles and Torahs and Korans and Epanishads and so on and so forth, you learn one truth God is God and does not look lightly on worshipping false gods. So while it mabe better to accept God into your life that keep God out, it would be wrong to assume that all gods are God, so must choose and choose wisely.
Part of the reason for explaining ones religion is to prove to others that the reasoning behind the decision to join that Church is based in the religion itself and not just "taken on faith".

I'd say it's simply because when compared to Protestantism, Catholicism is a pretty complex religion with, relatively speaking, a lot of ins and outs.

I only explain my faith when someone asks a question or if they clearly misunderstand the faith. It is certainly OK not to be a Catholic, but it is not OK to spread falsehoods about the faith.

Hey there,
I downloaded Broken Sword Return of the Templars for free here: http://bit.ly/1ub0noV
it's a perfectly working link, no scam!
Despite being an unofficial version, Broken Sword: The Return of the Templars got enough notoriety among the fans of the series, to the extent that their legal creators gave their full support.
It's a great game.
