Yes, I was actually a "shared" Au pair between 3 different families all within 10 miles of each other; depending on the family, it can be a great experience; otherwise, you could end up acting like a slave....working 6 days a week, 10-12 hours per day, getting room and board, but only making around $300 per week; I wouldn't recommend it.

no but I had plenty.
If you make sure you know what you are getting into, and you understand what are your responsability and work, it can be great. Otherwise, most of the time it is very frustrating.

Usual deal is 30 to 35 hours a week, including day and night time baby-sitting and some housecleaning in exchange of room, board and 150 to 200 US a week. Note that room and board are part of your pay!

This means that if it is a family of 5 with 3 kids, you will not (should not) be expected to take care of the whole household, but will have some specific responsabilities - you will be busy enough with the kids. If it is a family of 3 with one grown child, your responsabilities will be heavier on the housekeeping, because the child will leave you lots of free time.

Get a clear contract of what is expected from you.
