I am taking a class called Child Development and my teacher said that the earlist is 9 months.

My son walked at 10 months,,,I had a friend who's son walked at 8 1/2. It totally depends on the baby.

My daughter took her first steps at 7 months but did not walk like a normal person until 9 months.

My mom said that I walked at 9 months and 5 days. I took my first steps towards her Chirstmad morning. She said that I was a great gift!

I believe nine months old, but that's very early; and the case I know of involved the mother's pushing the baby to learn to walk. There have been questions raised about whether learning to walk too early may cause problems with the baby's leg/hip development.

From a medical point of view I don't know, but mine started walking at 12 months and 8 1/2 months (and she was a premmy so good on her I say!).
