Is it based on ethnicity largely.
(only in special circumstances, an old soul may choose to re-incarnate among younger souls to guide them as one of them)

I feel as if I posses and old soul, since I was a child I've felt different from others. I can tell when others carry old souls also because you can sense a certain presence within them, like they have wisdom beyond their years. And we are aware of each other being in the same room, and able to communicate in a sense through our eyes and thought without saying a word. It also gives a sense of peace and well being, as if your with your own kind.

no, its defintely not based on ethnicity. and really its very hard to tell. some people have a sense that can get impressions about people who are particularly "old" or particularly "young" but really its just something that only "shows up" if one is a notably older soul. (like myself)

honestly in a practical sense, it doesn't make that much difference.

most of the time souls incarnate in groups and with connections much like familial and friend connections, across lives, but there are always exceptions.

I've had "past lives" over a great span of time and it does cross racial and ethnic, ... and gender... lines.

part of the whole point of the thing is that you experience existance from different points of view, and gain understanding of things in that way.

but also remember the "old and young" side is the outer ends of the bell curve,(partially as it only stands out enough to be of mention, or particularly noticable, when its substantially off the "norm") that the majority are somewhere in the middle. but there is a great degree of spiritual awakening at the moment, and many people are feeling the "shift" into the higher degree of understanding that many DO associate with the "old soul" thing.

I don't get the feeling you need to be told to not mind the christians who'll think all this reincarnation stuff is of the devil or whatnot.

but those who do feel this way might want to consider that christianity supported the idea of reincarnation, up until Constantinople and the Council of Nicea. and the pre-christian jewish view of things did not disallow reincarnation either.

in fact jesus himself had many reincarnations, though, mostly before he was jesus as everyone knows him. though a couple after as well.

edit: notice how the people who have a very perceptible greater understanding seem to pop out for this question? I find that quite interesting.

No, it is based on if you want to come back or not. Yes, many old souls come back to teach and guide the younger ones, and also to learn more. The goal is to have your soul evolve into what is called Ascended Master. This takes many many lifetimes to achieve. Meaning that your soul has went through every possible level of growth there is. Jesus, Mother Mary, Babaja, St. Germain. These are a few of the Ascended Masters some you might know and some you might not know. Also one that is very common today would of been Mother Theresa. She is also now an Ascended Master. We choose what we want to do in each life time that we come back. It could be a different sex, a different Continent, a different nationality, it could be just life lessons, it could be to finish your own Kamic debt, or to help someone with their Karmic debt. I teach all of this stuff and it is very very interesting. Considering I spent 20 years as a Christian. My belief today makes much more sense than anything that is in the bible.
God Bless and great question

No it is not based on ethnicity. There are no better lessons to be learned than if an old soul is put among the young, lost souls...

It is all in how you deal with life. Do you get frustrated easily? Or do you let thing go knowing they will work themselves out. Its all about peace. if you can deal with any situation and not let anything(Almost) bother you, if you can see the outcome of situations before they happen, if you are at peace with your self and don't crave all the things in this world then you are probably an old soul. An old soul will be at peace with themselves and a young one will not be.

Ethnicity?

this answer is based solely on relevancy of the individual

just like religion, no 'right' answer

one day, when you no longer find sense in the world, and your religion fails to make sense,

that's when you know you are an old soul

I'm a Christian and I don't believe in reincarnation. Try Jesus and you wont have to worry about the age of your soul.
