Acts 19:6
And when Paul had laid hands on them, the Holy Spirit came upon them, and they spoke with tongues and prophesied.

but what did Paul say about speaking in tongues?:

27 Now you are the body of Christ, and members individually. 28 And God has appointed these in the church: first apostles, second prophets, third teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, administrations, varieties of tongues. 29 Are all apostles? Are all prophets? Are all teachers? Are all workers of miracles? 30 Do all have gifts of healings? Do all speak with tongues? Do all interpret? 31 But earnestly desire the best gifts. And yet I show you a more excellent way.

and he warns of churches where everybody is babbling away with no sense of order

1 Corinthians 14:23
Therefore if the whole church comes together in one place, and all speak with tongues, and there come in those who are uninformed or unbelievers, will they not say that you are out of your mind?

the Lord has spiritual gifts for you, pray for them and "desire the better gifts"

What I believe is that I was filled with the Holy Spirit when I became saved. Some of us may never speak in tongues. It is a gift and not all will receive it.

For me it was when I had an immersion baptism.
However - remember the gift of tongues is not present in all beleivers - and do not be disappointed - trust in God.
I accepted Christ by word profession at 15 - but not really in my heart until I was 31 - and that is when my life changed and the Holy Spirit came. As I began to grow I had a desire to be baptized ( I had been as an infant), but I wanted to do it with ny life comiittted.
I went to a friend's church and had a full immersion baptism and it was wonderful. I can tell you that the Spirit was more present and powerful, and that same I night I received tongues.
Consider and pray about be being baptized if you have not - it is a precious gift.

You do not HAVE to speak in tongues to be saved. I have been saved for over 25 years, and have never received the gift of tongues. Be careful for those false doctrines that tell you you must..

The Bible itself reveals those doctrines that are essential to the Christian faith. They are 1) the Deity of Christ, 2) Salvation by Grace, and 3) Resurrection of Christ, and 4) the gospel. These are the doctrines the Bible says are necessary. Though there are many other important doctrines, these four are the only ones that are declared by Scripture to be essential.

Truly you are confused like most of the world, speaking in tongues was nothing but speaking in diffirent languages, see for yourself;
Ac 2:4 And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.
Ac 2:5 And there were dwelling at Jerusalem Jews, devout men, out of every nation under heaven.
Ac 2:6 Now when this was noised abroad, the multitude came together, and were confounded, because that every man heard them speak in his own language.
Ac 2:7 And they were all amazed and marvelled, saying one to another, Behold, are not all these which speak Galilaeans?
Ac 2:8 And how hear we every man in our own tongue, wherein we were born?
Ac 2:9 Parthians, and Medes, and Elamites, and the dwellers in Mesopotamia, and in Judaea, and Cappadocia, in Pontus, and Asia,
Ac 2:10 Phrygia, and Pamphylia, in Egypt, and in the parts of Libya about Cyrene, and strangers of Rome, Jews and proselytes,
Ac 2:11 Cretes and Arabians, we do hear them speak in our tongues the wonderful works of God

If you learn to speak Spanish, German, Japanese, etc, then you will be speaking in tongues. It is not a bunch of Heavenly speach some people would have you believe. It is just another human language. Paul speaks of it well in I Corinthians. The only persons I know that claim it to be a Heavenly speach is Charismatics and Pentacostals.

You may never. Not everyone is gifted by the Holy Spirit with the ability to speak in tongues. You may be gifted otherwise.

You might not ever speak in tongues. It depends on whether that's your gift. Pray about it and ask God to show you what your gifts are. Some will be things that you are naturally good at, and it may be that you don't realize they're gifts bc they come so naturally to you. Others you may not know about yet. Pray and ask other Christians what they think your gifts are, once you find out, work in them to develop them as much as you can.

I don't know. Perhaps never in this lifetime. Paul lists a variety of gifts of the Holy Spirit and explains that we are all part of one body. Your gifts may include "speaking in tongues" or it may involve other gifts. Listen for the still, small voice and meditate on your Scripture reading. God bless you and your service for His kingdom.

Maybe never, are you seeking the baptism of the Holy Spirit with the evidence of speaking in toques? Go to a pentecostal church and with a sincere heart let them pray for you to receive. Don't get discouraged, it may not happen the first try.
