The severe pain and not being able to walk very far is what prompted me to have the knee replacement surgery.
The most important aspect of the surgery is selecting the right physician to do the surgery. They are not all the same.
Recovery was painful and slow. Physical therapy takes about two to three months.
You will use a walker for about two to three weeks, then a cane for about six more weeks.
Yes the surgery was well worth it, and I will have the other knee done in the near future, but by a much better surgeon.

My mother was in her mid 70's when she had it done. She was finally in so much pain when she was getting in and out of cars or walking up stairs. She had both done at the same time. I lived with her and did her exercises with her. It's been 2 years and one of her knees is fine, but the other doesn't bend well. I think I should have pushed her more to move her knees more. If you have it done, make sure there is someone there with you to help you with your exercises and really push you. She had never been in a hospital before that except for having children. She doesn't regret it.
