You would lose muscle. My ideas? Try to do 200 minutes of cardio a week. Remember fat does not turn into muscle, so you need to lose your fat while putting on muscle. Work hard, but don't over 60 minutes at a time. Do planks and other abs exercises on alternate days.

On training days, do 5-10 minutes of cardio to warm up, then do your weight training. Do 30 to 60 minutes more of cardio, then go home.

The best time to eat is just after your workout within an hour when your metabolism is raging. For your muscles, incorporate some isolated soy protein or whey protein. Whey is more potent but the soy tastes better!

Don't look at your scale as the be all and end all, but get a measuring tape to check your progress, and that will show more tangible results.

Read magazines like Shape, Womens Fitness, Fitness, etc to get tips and to stay motivated.

Good luck and stick at it. This plan has lost me 20 lbs in 12 weeks so far, just go for it!

To maintain the muscle mass you have you need to lift weights twice a week. To gain more muscle you need to lift at least 3 times per week. Jogging and rope jumping are more aerobic not muscle toning.

There's nothing wrong with doing those two things.

It's the weirdo who cuts their calories to 1400 or goes on Atkins low carb and then decides to enrollin the gym and do 10 hours a week who is going to pass out and end up hospitlized.

At least 30 minute a day of moderate exercise ok on a low cal or low carb diet. One or two hours a week of strenuous aerobics is doable.

It's a FACT of life that to DO work outs and exercises you need to have IMMEDIATE blood sugar and RESERVE blood sugar.

That means you need carbs.

Work out people must simply lessen their food intake. Say 1800 calories not 1400 calories and then need to carb a little before work out. Say a smoothie. Your afternoon snack, an hour before work out.

If you're going LOW CARB or LOW CALORIE say away from daily gym work outs until AFTER you reach your weight level.

In fact that's a good way to do it. You REACH you level and start increasing food back to normal and THEN do 10 - 12 hours a week on all those things and it will burn off those new carbs and help stablize you.

YOu should, then, continue to do at least 6 hours a week for life if you go that route, to keep tone and burn extra carbs.

But now you are back up to a 2,000 calorie diet with carbs back in the diet.

Yes, unfortunately. If you aim to lose weight by starving yourself, you'll literally be skin and bones - significant lean muscle wasting will occur before your fat stores are mobilised for fuel. The proper way to lose weight is to maintain an effective exercise regime, coupled with a diet consisting of adequate calories, complex carbohydrates and protein to preserve lean muscle mass and at the same time allow utilisation of body fat stores.

Muscles do only 3 things:

1. Grow
2. Not Grow
3. Shrink

I recommend you do some weight training to maintain your muscle tone and strength!

You would only lose muscle if you weren't eating properly.....like people with anorexia lose muscle as well as fat. If you're trying to lose weight, you need to exercise, too.
