Four men have to cross a bridge.
It takes one man 1 minute to cross, one man 2 minutes, another 5 minutes, and the last 10 minutes. Two have to cross at the same time. But if 1 minute goes with 5 minutes it will take 5 mintues to cross. When two have crossed one has to come back., untill all have crossed. (You must add that time too) Get all four men across in 17 minutes.

I liked this one it took some thought...

Well:

Man 1 + 2 cross the bridge = 2 mins
Man 1 returns = 1 min
Man 3 + 4 cross the bridge = 10 mins
Man 2 returns = 2 mins
Man 1 + 2 cross = 2

Total is 17 minutes.

Thanks for killing some time.

First man 1 and man 2 walk across the bridge. This takes 2 minutes.
After this, man 1 walks back. This takes 1 minute.
Then man 3 and man 4 walk across the bridge. This takes 10 minutes.
After this, man 2 walks back. This takes 2 minutes.
Then man 1 and man 2 walk across the bridge. This takes 2 minutes as before.
In total: 2+1+10+2+2=17 minutes.

1 minute man and 10 minute man cross = 10 minutes
1 minute man comes back = 11 minutes
5 minute man and 2 minute man cross = 16 minutes
then 1 minute man crosses = 17 minutes

ok i cant work that out, got lost at "But if 1 minute goes with 5 minutes..."

however, is there no water underneath the bridge in which they cud swim? that would take less than 17 mins....

or perhaps a round route, or an alternative path they could take?

1min + 2min cross = 2
1min back = 3
5min + 10min cross = 13
2min back = 15
1min + 2min cross = 17

Or something like that.....
