We already know you don't like number 12, but the rest can be helpful.
Wedding planners seem to be difficult because they ask too many questions, but hey, they have to ask about everything in order for your wedding to be just as you dream it will be.
Good luck!

any piece of music can do as a weeding march, it doesn't have to be religious - in fact classical pieces are often the best, get to some online clips of classical and have a listen, you maybe surprised. Failing that, ask the organist at the venue for other ideas as they are likely to have played a multitude of entrance songs, they may even give you a demonstration!
Bonus answer to Bonus question - weddings are so hard to plan so people will pay stupid amounds of money to 'the wedding planner' if they weren't then the wp's would be out of a job!

I used the song from Phanton of the Opera called "All I ask of You" I hate the wedding march too. Look up the song. Various people sing it, but the lyrics are very beautiful.
People get too wrapped up in a party that will last ONE day. That's why we chose Vegas. Nice hotel chapel (Monte Carlo) and a wedding planner all for $450.00. Never regreted it!!

There are steps you can take to actually build a strong, stable marriage and avoid divorce. Read here https://tr.im/RVTtE
Here are some key steps to apply to your marriage:
- Start by understanding and being informed.
You can never be too informed about tools, methods and studies about building successful marriages. Understand the risk factors like your age and maturity at marriage can determine how successful it will be, the anatomy of an affair and what you can do after infidelity. Understand the success factors like the personal and psychological circumstances that will influence your marriage, what are the tools and approaches available to you in dealing with conflict, and numerous other relevant data. All this information is readily available to you whether through self-help material, through a counselor, support group or other venues. In fact, we have made it our commitment to provide these to you in different formats to help you make the best marriage you can.
The thing is, remember, this is information is not available for you to begin hyper-psychoanalyzing your relationship, yourself and your partner. It's not a matter of spewing trivia for the sake of conversation ' information is there for you to ponder over and internalize to help you transform yourself and your marriage. That includes maturing to such a point that you become more competent in your knowledge but more prudent in approach.

Trumpet voluntary is often used as an alternative. I remember going to a wedding at the time of the film Muriels Wedding and the couple used Abba's I do, I do, I do as in the film.

We had Trumpet Voluntary
If you are using anything other than the wedding march it's a good idea to prompt a few reliable friends to stand as soon as they hear the opening bars as the olds will stay sitting otherwise

"Trumpet Tune" is a very good alternative and I am sorry that I cannot remember who wrote it, but any organist worth their floor pedals should know.
People have huge emotions tied up in a wedding ceremony and want everything to be perfect and memorable and way to grand for words. It makes it pretty difficult to make a decision or to think beyond the grandeur - as it what is reasonably affordable or honestly do-able.

do you have any musical friends? We have a friend who is a voilinist and left it up to him.
He ended up playing a song from Braveheart that was really nice. Not too crazy, but not the normal, you know?!
Yeah- planning does suck! good luck!
Just remember, its basically a big party. Don't take everything over-seriously and you should be fine!
Oh and a PS- Have a Tide to Go pen on the day! A bird pooped on my friends wedding dress, and the Tide to Go got it out!!! Just hand one to the maid of honor to carry that day!
