No - I don't believe so. I have yet to find anything in the bible that says "Thou shalt not have a any alcohol" We shouldn't be a drunkard, but a drink once in awhile isn't going to hurt.

Of course, if you feel God is telling you not to, follow Him.

Haven't you ever seen the t-shirt that says "Beer is proof that God loves us"? ha ha. Our Lord likes to see us happy and "To everything there is a season" A time to drink beer too! As Long as a person doesn't get drunk. If you cannot control yourself, you shouldn't drink at all though. St. Paul says "To a Christian all things are permissible within God's creation, not all things are beneficial though" and one must be moderate in consumption.

It is only when drinking becomes our primary focus in life that it becomes a sin. This is a form of idolatry.

Paul the apostle said at 1 Cor. 10:23 that "All things are lawful for me, but not all things are helpful; all things are lawful for me, but not all things edify." This is easily applied to drinking. It's generally not good for you (especially in large amounts), but if you're not engaging in idolatry because of it, there's nothing unlawful about it. HOWEVER, Paul explains these things may not all edify you (make you stronger).

Paul tells us at Eph. 5:18 "And do not be drunk with wine, in which is dissipation; but be filled with the Spirit." Certainly, any time a person is drunk, they cannot be filled with the spirit. This, in and of itself, is reason enough not to drink. Why would you want to be unspiritual, even for a few hours? Again, this is not a sin, but it certainly gets your mind off God, which is NOT a good thing.

Peace.

i cant tell you if it is a sin---only God knows but what i can tell you is that christians are "not supposed to drink" according to popular belief.

i have not foun one church nor one pastor that condones drinking--not even one drink.

if it is only 2 or 3 beers a week what is the point i am sure you are not getting drunk you may as well not drink at all to be sure it is in accordance with God

i do know it is not a sin to not drink--if that helps

Drinking alcohol itself is not a sin, but the Bible tells us not to be drunk with wine, but to be filled with the Spirit.

Having said that, I don't drink alcohol for various reasons.

I would not like to be a stumbling block to anyone else

I have seen so much devastation caused by alcohol in my own family, and so have choosen not to drink myself as a matter of preference

Some more than others are prone to addiction, and therefore everyone needs to be careful as to their consumption of alcohol.

Nothing wrong with that. Monks are the ones who first made beer in Germany hundreds of years ago.

I'm also a Christian and I ask myself that question as well.... i think its a sin if you have a guilty conscious before you drink... before you drink, do you stop and think about the consequences? will it hurt your loved ones? or even to yourself?....

Drinking isn't a sin. Being drunken is. It all boils down to excess.
