hey - what about drugs? My doctor gives me xanax, which is good, but is there something better?

I understand your predicament, particularly since the whole way over is bright and sunny usually. When I came over it took me 24 hours from start in Toronto to finish in Incheon. The bad thing was, it was my first time flying ANYWHERE. I was so excited about going somewhere new and seeing all these new things, and nervous about flying and the turbulence we had (nasty) and being met at the airport that I never slept a wink. I didn't have any jetlag though, by the next day I was fine, slept well my first night here, and that was the end of it. Might be something to consider, but otherwise you are pretty much screwed depending on where you are coming from. Cause if you are coming from Canada the rules of no electronic equipment etc. might be in effect and then you can't bring anything on the flight that won't fit in their little plastic bag. If not, books, mp3 player, cd player, whatever you need to make you comfortable so you can sleep and travel comfortably. Good Luck.

I used to routinely fly from Asia from the west coast USA. I try to stay awake the night before so that I sleep all the way through the flight. You might look into Melatonin tablets - although they make me awful groggy the next day. I always book an aisle seat so that I can stretch my legs. Although, I used to bring an Ipod so that I can take my mind off of the length of flight. I don't know if you can still take electronics any more, it helps a lot. I would bring lots of hard candy to break up the time. But, sleeping as much as possible helps pass the time the best.

CD's and a good book. Or other self entertaining stuff. many electroincs are out of the question now, so ask the airlines what is allowed before leaving.

Or stay up all night before the flight and e sure to fall asleep on the plane.

Maybe there will be an in flight movie or those mini TV's in the seats which i found helpful if something good was on.

If you want, you can allways talk or play cards with people your traveling with.

First of all, if it's a long distance flight the key is to get a really good airline. If it's not too late, I recommend Singapore Air or Cathay Pacific.

The best way to burn through a flight is to sleep. But if you can't sleep, resort to doing stuff that make you relax. If you're travelling with friends, you can take turns massaging each other or play games like cards, monopoly or whatever--it's also a great way to make new friends. I dunno if you're a guy or a girl, but I love doing manicures on the plane.

Also, bring a great book with you, have great songs on your iPod, and drink plenty of water. Within the last hour of your flight, change into some nice clothes, comb your hair, and put on some makeup (ok forget that last bit if you're a guy) and make sure you disembark the plane looking your best.

Bon voyage!

try not to sleep too much the night before the flight so you'll be tired out and be able to get a few hours sleep at least. For the remainder of the flight, you should take a book(s) and music etc, enough to occupy your time for the duration. Most airlines have decent in-flight entertainment too so you could find that you catch a few movies as well.

I hate to sleep on airplanes. Its truly uncomfortable. I just used my time playing with interactive games and watching current movies in the inflight entertainment provided.

Try to sleep or watch the movie onborad. Bring along some kind of entertainment so that you don't have to think about where you are.

Bring books you have been longing to read! You can also read a travelogue for the countries you are going to visit. Bring your ipod too! Music will relax your nerves

Try Ambien if you know you can get 8 hours of uninterrupted sleep. It is a non addicting sleeping pill.
