So I've been seeing a lot of things said by non-Chrisitans, atheists and agnostics here saying that Christians, whether or not they have a high IQ can't be all there because they believe certain things. Among these are that evolution never happenened, that the Bible is literally true, that all non-Christians are evil, that people with no religious beliefs go to hell, that the Earth is only 6,000 years old, etc. I've seen Christians themsleves saying on here that they believe these things. I'm wondering, how is this even possible in this day and age. I'm Christian and I certainly don't beleive all these things. How can anyone not believe that evolution didn't happen, or that a perfectly good person who just wasn't Christian, a Mother Teresa without faith, would go to hell? I know that in Kentucky they are building a creationism museum "proving" creationism, but do most Christians really believe theses things? Because that would be really, really stupid.

If you look at the civilized christian world - if you want, you can pretty much call the group you are describing above the American Fundamentalist Lutheran Christians - neither the 'real' Catholics (the ones that accept the pope as their leader), nor any of the moderate lutheran christians, nor any lutheran movement in Europe questions modern concepts like evolution, or the fact that the earth as well as the universe is way, way, way older than 6000 years. And yes, there is the chance, probably even more the likelyhood, that there are errors in our current theories and things will have to be adopted, revised, or thrown out... but that is the nature of science - the knowledge of today, are the errors of tomorrow... The point were most fundamental christians go wrong is that just because evolution might turn out to be wrong after all - it certainly does not make creation right. Evolution might not be the final answer, but it is the best we have today. The problem with creation is that it is not a science, nor a theory - it is doctrine and all the research is focused only on proving it and discrediting anything that stands against it. .... You have read an earlier post, where some scientist are quoted stating their problems with evolution - yeah there are many out there - what the poster does not tell you is that they DO NOT consider Creation as the alternative - I can tell you for a fact that Carl Sagan does NOT believe the earth and universe is about 6000 years old. (see below what he has to say about Darwin)

A lot of Christians accept the bible as a guide telling metaphors that were designed to relate certain moral guidelines and religious principles in a time, where most of what we know today simply was not known. That idea does not dimish the value of the bible and it can still serve as the inspired word of god, who relates his message in anecdotes, if you so will, that teach his ideas and principles.

As to why it is so important to certain groups to waste millions of dollars in absolutely useless research trying to prove something that no serious scientist in the world would even consider to take a serious look at? I don't think there is a sound answer, since unreasonable premises are rarely based on reasonable foundations. I can think of many ways those founds could be put to better use and that museum in KY could be a place that really furthers a desirable cause.

While I am not a Christian, or a follower of any organized religion, I am glad that there are Christians out there that do carry a strong believe, while keeping an open eye and an open mind towards new ideas. I think one of the major flaws of organized religions is their inability to adapt their doctrines to new realizations.

All religions are simply belief systems, but science is based on facts that can be proved and is subject to experimentation that gives the same results no matter where carried out or by whom.

Religion is a way in which the behaviour and thoughts of groups of people can be controlled/influenced, whereas science is the means by which they can be objectively informed about the world around them.

You are right when you question the sanity of those who propagate and believe arrant nonsense such as the statement about the Earth being only 6000 years old - but guess from which country that piece of stupid thought came?!

There is a saying that 'Science is the only religion that works even when you don't believe'.

Think about it - it is so true.

I do believe in the Creation account of the Bible. Whether it took God 6 days or 6,000 years to create it doesn't matter...I still believe He created it. As to whether the earth is 6,000 yrs old ..who knows? As for evolution...well if humans did evolve from monkeys/apes, my question would be why did the evolution process stop!!! We still have plenty of monkeys/apes left...so the evolution process should still be going on. There's other questions too concerning evolution that does not make sense. Non-Christians are NOT evil, I have met Christians that where more evil then non-Christians. Non-Christians are great people and even though they don't believe in any kind of religion does not make them bad. Some of the most ruthless people are in churches and along with that note when I do go to church I don't expect a church member to hurt me and when they do it hurts!!! I do go to church on a regular basis despite of that. If I have a bad experience at a restaurant, does that stop me from going to restaurants to eat...of course not...I go to another one, so I view churches the same way. Yes I can read the Bible at home and listen to Christian music as well, but I still need that fellowship from other believers so I don't get too far off on my interpretation of the Bible. The Bible proves itself to be more accurate the more I study it and I take it by Faith, if it was concrete then it would no longer be faith.

The Bible says there is one God above all the others... please don't make me recite scripture... I think the Bible is a poor way to reach non Christians. Jesus is God in the flesh... Satan isn't pure evil only he thought he was mightier than God and wants to harm man. Good point and reason why I don't like to use the Bible. It says that the only way to God is through the son. I agree and that is another good point.. however the Bible says... see Christians use the Bible as a manual... many try damn non Christians when it is God's ultimate decision and it will be fair. That brings me back to the first point... God will not make the wrong decision. God is love and he will make the decisions, not those that are condemning others. Demons are fallen angles Protestant, Catholic, Christian, Roman Catholic, Lutheran, all believe in Jesus... I am pretty sure Mormon too but they have a different belief in the after life. Judaism believe in the same God but not the son. Unitarians believe in a higher power Muslims believe in the same God and believe Jesus was a profit and Mahmud was the last profit and what he said has more merit that Jesus. They were thought to be doing the devils work here on earth. Men are not perfect and when they think they have the ultimate answer many horrible things are justified in the name of God. (On both sides) Jesus refered to God as his father... he is my father too but I'm not claiming to be Jesus. There were more religious scriptures written and there was a meeting held to decide which ones were going to be used for the New Testiment. Look up The Lost (somethig) scriptures maybe. some believe it others don't... I know of a church that believe they are going to be the only one's allowed in God's city and everyone else is going to be outside of it... still in heaven... and formal education of the Bible is unacceble. Many people think that God shouldn't be questioned and how dare you expect God to answer to you. I along with my minister think that it is good to ask questions and be educated on your belief. I am strong in my faith... I don't need scripture to back that up. I hope you find this useful red and God Bless

To answer your question I will go through your own question and tell you which ones that I believe in.I believe the Bible is TRUE. I do not believe that all Non Christians are evil. I do not believe that all Non Christians will go to Hell, that is up to God to decide not me. I do not believe that evolution ever happened, otherwise there would be no Adam and Eve. I do believe that the Earth is only, roughly, 6,000 years old. I have a better question for you now. You 'claim' to be a Christian but you say that you don't believe in all of those things. You say that you believe in evolution, so Adam and Eve is a lie to you. You say that all it takes is to be a good person to get into Heaven, so the Bible is a lie to you. It clearly states what it 'takes' to get into Heaven. I sincerely doubt you are even a Christian, going by your question.

The "day and age" really have nothing to do with it. It is logic, and faith. For example I have faith that there is a place called China. I have never seen it personally. But enough people have seen it, that I trust their written accounts of it.

Don't worry about my IQ. I am a Christian, and was blessed enough (or cursed) to have a IQ above what society calls "the normal range". I can tell you honestly it has only served to make me haughty, arrogant, sarcastic,...These are my daily struggles. I know that I am forgiven by God. It is also why I choose the Internet, I don't play well with others, thus have no friends.(not that I am here for friendship, that cannot be done over wires)

I do believe in a young earth. six literal days of creation. heaven and hell. etc...And YES I am proud to be an educated Christian

1) Micro evolution is a science, the other 4 types are theories and must be accepted on faith (religion).

2) I am not Catholic, but I do not know that Mother Teresa went to Hell. People who never heard the Gospel will be judged on what they did know. People who hear and reject the Gospel condemn themselves.

3) The Bible talks about humans and dinosaurs living together!
They are called dragons, Leviathan, Behemoth and unicorns.
Evolution says they they are millions of years between dinosaurs and man. But there are places where there are human and dinosaur footprints in the same rocks! (do a web search for more info - enter human and dinosaur footprints). Evolutionist say that they are not human footprints. If not than what kind of dinosaur are they? That means that some dinosaurs had feet shaped like mans (size 1-18), and wore stitched moccasins!
Even the parks department of Texas does not know what to make of it. On a sign in Glen Rose Texas they show a dinosaur wearing human shaped boots to confuse people. (WOW, Acme has been around for a long time - Loony Toons joke).

Check out the web sites below for more info and look for a creation seminar in your area.

God be with you.

There are many millions of Christians in the world who believe the Bible is open to some leeway of interpretation. Only extremist fundamentalists believe literally that every word in the Bible is a fact as we know it. Unfortunately, these are the noisiest and most vocal of the entire faith.

You are confusing Christian with Chatolic or Born Agains. I am christian .I so not believe any of those stupid things. God set evolution in motion. The earth is billions of years old. People with pure hearts are going to Heaven.I remember in the bible the disciples running to Jesus to tell him there were others healing and casting out demons Jesus replied "If they are not against us , they are with us "

come on, its not just Christians who don't buy the evolution hoax.
people who believe this poppycock have been lied to

How Probable is Evolution?
“The esteemed Carl Sagan and other prominent scientists have estimated the chance of man
evolving at roughly 1 chance in 102,000,000,000. This is the number one with two billion zeros
after it and could be written out in about 20,000 booklets…According to Borel’s law, this is
no chance at all.”
— John Ankerberg and John Weldon, “The Facts on Creation vs. Evolution,” The Anker Series,
(Eugene, Oregon: Harvest House Publishers, 1993) p. 21.
Sir Fred Hoyle, the famous astronomer, once wrote, “The chance that higher life forms
might have emerged in this way is comparable with the chance that a tornado sweeping
through a junkyard might assemble a Boeing 747 from the materials therein.”
— Phillip E. Johnson, Darwin On Trial, (Downers Grove: Illinois Intervarsity Press, 1993) p. 106.
According to Dr. Michael Denton, a molecular biologist, “Neither of the two fundamental
axioms of Darwin’s macro evolutionary theory [that all of life evolves from a primeval cell
and that life resulted merely from blind chance] have been validated by one single
empirical discovery or scientific advance since 1859.”
— Michael Denton, Evolution: A Theory in Crisis, (Bethesda, Maryland: Adler & Adler, 1986), p. 345.
