I am trying to send a document I created with Fireworks using Microsoft outlook

png file is an image
you can put image using img tag in html
just load as normal jpeg file.

.png are image files...
I think you should not have any problems in attaching the files. or else open the file with fireworks and go to File > Save As.... you can save it as .gif or as html as well..
To specifically convert it into Html... go to MS-Word or insert that image on a word document and Click on File > Save as web page and than you can save the document as an HTML page.
but i suggest first option as its simple.

do one thing. you have ..an option to export the png file into html file. do that..
fireworks creates.. automatic.. boundary of html tags and encloses the image create into html file.
now you can zip it and attach it..
