Yes it is true, being in debt is also better than not also. That is what happened when Clinton was in office he didn't know how to run the country as he should have and our economy suffered for it.

Yes.
Defence? is big business, and in order to keep business rolling it is essential that bombs and shells are expended and replaced.
America spends more on defense that the whole of the rest of the world put together, and there is no use in having something of that size if it is never used.
Of course there is also the expenditure on rebuilding the countries they have destroyed, which is now big business to.
It beats me how a country spending so much on war can consider itself to be civilised. War is the most uncivilised activity a human can participate in.

I thought we were only upto 2 not 11, though I see they are trying real hard on 3.

The american Economy generates a lot of money from conflict... but it is very diverse and could easly survive and even prosper more in a more peaceful world.

In his 1960 farewell speech, President and former General Dwight D. Eisenhower invented a brand new phrase, "militaryindustiral complex."

And, he warned Americans to not allow it to gain too much power.

Americans didn't listen and now the US is nearly bankrupt from feeding its voracious appetite.

The answer is yes and the primary reason Bill Clinton was so vilified. He refused to feed it and it tried to eat him.

The military industrial complex is churning out weapons and supplies. In that sense, it does help the economy, however, this situation in Iraq is bankrupting America. It is simply too expensive for us to maintain our presense there.

No, that is not true. The US has it's best economy under the Clinton administration--a time of relative peace--and with peace their is an economic "peace benefit".
