Since they don't have calories, they shouldn't make you gain weight. You should probably drink a fair amount of water as well, though, since caffeine is a diuretic and can cause dehydration. It might also be worth noting that aspartame (aka Nutrasweet) can cause migraines in some people, so if it gives you migraines, you might consider switching to herbal tea.

I drink about four pots of coffee a day. No calories, and all the caffeine--the best of both worlds. :-)

Diet sodas do not have calories in them, so they wont make you gain weight. But it has salt that will retain fluids and make you heavier.
There hasnt been enough research on artificial sweetners and their long term effects, so you might want to use them with caution.
Diet sodas will rot the teeth as they are highly acidic.
Drink lots of water to keep you hydrated without any long term side effects

The question is how much are you drinking? There was a report that diet pop makes you crave for other foods. One thing about all sodas the carbonation takes calcium from your bones. So it is important that you take calcium or a good multivitamin everyday.

I have heard that the artifical sugar makes you crave real sugar and so people that drink diet sodas end up consuming more calories per day. However... I still drink it haha

Dr. Atkins thought so. He pointed to research that indicated that artificial sweeteners like NutraSweet slowed the conversion of carbohydrates into energy, thus inducing the extra carbos to be stored as fat. So you could eat a sensible meal, with a NutraSweet drink, and end up storing nearly all the carbos in the meal as fat. Bad news.

Atkins promoted Splenda, which is a close analog of sugar, with a couple of chlorine atoms tossed in to prevent the body from metabolizing it.

Studies funded by Cola companies all say they don't.and are safe to drink. Independent studies say the opposite. I believe women who drink excessive amounts gain weight from the waste down. Look around and make your own conclusions.

give your protein extra low calorie flavor by adding a salsa or chutney instead of a gooey cream sauce

no on both but watch how much you drink because they have chemicals that change into formaldehyde when the liver process them and that is very hard on the body. The ones with Splenda are better than others.
