I have been to south africa and botswana and seen it all. entire families of africans are dying of aid's, and the african politicians are still doing their best to sweep it under the carpet. Tabo membeki (president of south africa) and nelson mandela keep accusing western nations of been racist for saying that lots of africans are dying of aids.

why are these african leaders trying to cover it all up?

They are trying to cover it up because it makes them feel inferior, dumb to feel that way if it's killing you to do so.

They do the same thing here in the states and say it's not effecting them but it's killing alot here too.

They just try to ignore it and think it'll go away, we both know that won't happen.

It is believed that the virus originated in Africa in the blood rites of some of the tribes...specifically, from monkey blood that was drank as a rite of passage for younger men. These men then passed the virus to their sexual partners and the virus passed to the European community through young Red Cross workers in the seventies who were exposed to blood products while working in bare bones clinics in the field in the African nations. These workers did not wear or even have access to the protective gear that is standard these days. Latex gloves were much more expensive and hard to come by; needle pricks were very common; free flowing blood from accidents and injuries exposed many workers, observers, charitable visitors, etc., to the virus, and they had no idea that they had been exposed and showed no signs of having contracted the virus until many, many years later.

By the time AIDS and AIDS Related Complex were finally being identified in the medical community, in the very early 80's, it was by far too late to stop the spread in Africa. The idiocy of leaders not recognizing AIDS goes way back to then and is a sad comment on the state of this world.

they need a lot of help down there and urgently,First of all Education is the key to it.some of the elders down there are still using voodoos, and young girls to cure aids, and that is in no means of fighting a deadly deseases second africa is a massive continent with lots of poor people corrupt governments and lots of beurocratic redtape,it is hard to channel the much needed funds to those who need help if one government wants to get a hold of a fund that is intended for the ordinary people who needed it,its basically the problem between the govenrments and yes part of the problem is the wealthy countries not neccessarily the western countries that has surplus of money to help but to all wealthy countries ,if they could just learn the morals of living with fellow earthling not the human being in us,everybody can help each other out, thats the problem when a country is known for its racial inhabitants, the governments of civilized countries has the tendency of looking down the have nots and acts as the masters of peoples distiny,if they could just call themselves as earthlings first and not identify any color maybe this things will be taken care off irght-away

Africa needs the gospel of Christ. Because of AIDS, 3,000 a day die there. That's a 9/11 every day for Africa and orphaned children are a major problem. They need our help.

Our church sponsors orphanages and schools there in an effort allieviate the problem. But without Christ, all efforts are in vain. Our pastor & missions team has been there for two weeks.

If you have been to South Africa then you know that their health care and their ability to take care of themselves like getting condoms, and, medications, and alot of other things is minimal. If No one in America could buy condoms, or get hiv tests, or medications for those tests, then we would be in the same boat.
The government, doesn't want people to know because it means that they are afraid people will consider the nation weak and try to take it over, or that they are irresposible and ineffective.

A lot of it is the African culture and basis of society. Men often have sex with many, many women, and if they have AIDS or HIV, then most of these women will get it too. Their are tens of thousands of women who survive as prostitutes or mistresses, and they often get HIV at a very young age. Then, any men they service after wards are also exposed, and though birth, their children are sometimes exposed. Customs allow older men to marry very young girls, and then many of them are infected, and then can infect other husbands after their first died is AIDS. People don't talk about it because having HIV is taboo, and thus very few people get tested or receive meds, scare as they are.

Sorry, but your question is not accurate.
AIDs is common, that's true, but not among africans. It is common in a very small number of African countries (very southern African countries. There are more than 50 countries in Africa. And my belief is that HIV is a man made virus that was implanted by the US in south african jungle monkeys, then transfered to humans. It is one of the countless atrocities of the great United States of America.
My personal appeal to you.. please stop labelling people. There over a billion Africans.. over 50 countries ... and AIDs is not so common among them because a very large portion of them are good christians and muslims and they follow very conservative family regulations regarding sexual relationships and hygine.

They are not educated about the ways to practice safe sex, also i don't believe they can afford or desire to use condoms. It is very sad that people are dying out of ignorance and also a country's leaders are doing their best to keep it that way.
