UNIX has no full form... Its actually a name of an Operating system (OS) By BSD (Berkley Software Development) UNIX have many flavours (Version) nowadays. e.g FreeBSD , OpenBSD , AIX , HP-UX etc...

The name nix is derived from the name of parent OS called MULTICS. MULTICS was never produced. Unix was meant to be a striped down version of multics. hence the name multi wass replaced to uni & cs to x to signify that unix has certain features of its own & not a exact striped down version.
