I just got my tongue piercing done and I am getting an imprint of the ball right behind the piercing when I put my tongue to the roof of my mouth and the imprint hurts like heck. Will that go away?!

The piercer pierced far enough so I don't bite on it much with my teeth. Swelling isn't bad either.....it actually makes a long barbell feel comfortable.

Tongue piercings arn't as bad as you make em sound......and besides if you don't take care of your teeth you won't have to have root canals.

I've had mine done for 4 years now and yes it will go away, it's tough in the beginning. Hang in there though because the pain was bad enough for me the first time and if something happened and I had to take the ring out I don't think I would do it again!

just wanted to say... i've had my first tongue piercing for 5 years now. and my imprint never went away. it lessened. but never went away.

and as for the teeth thing....

i have no problems at all with my teeth. BUT if you have a habit of clinking it around your mouth... you can buy a plastic barbell and it has plastic beads.... that way even if you do bite on it... it will break the plastic, not chip or break your teeth.

No, and neither will all broken teeth you get from sneezing.

I had 8 root canals because of my tonguering. Take yours out now and suffer the $50 loss, or keep it and pay $1000 each tooth to keep the tooth.

That is swelling called ptting edema and if it is a new one take some ibuprphen but watch and if it gets worse or you have trouble swallowing call a doc or go to the ER.

You will develop a hard piece of Flesh(Eventually) and the nerve ending in that area will die!
Therefore eliminating the pain you are now feeling!!

Have you considered what it will do to your Teeth? as well as your Speech?

first of all stop putting your toungue to the roof of your mouth,if something hurts you,you dont do it any more!!! lol. second if you just recently had it peirced then you still have some swolleness, it will soon pass. just keep it clean and try not to play with it to much. good luck.

Yes, eventually, but you''l have to endure it. Good things have bad things in return, not that it is equivalent trade, but to teach you something. they say that beauty needs sacrifices, so you need it too. you sacrificed your comfort, then you'll sacrifice your time. you need it to keep your piercing clean and free from infections, especially, some food particles may get in it and infection may occur. :)
