I currently jog on my treadmill approx. 5 - 6 days a week for 4.5 to 6 miles each time. I'm getting so bored with it. I try different programs, but still just bored. I want to try outside jogging, but my area really isn't that safe for a woman to be by herself. Any new workout suggestions?

Go to www.runnersworld.com and click on races and places and find out where runners go in your area and meet with them and run in a group, or click on womens running and they may have resources there for you. Or go to a group board and see if there is a group there that runs in your area, or you can check at your local runners store like "Fleet Feet" if you have one in your area and they have lists of groups that you can run with.

My ideas? Try to do 200 minutes of cardio a week. Remember fat does not turn into muscle, so you need to lose your fat while putting on muscle. Work hard, but don't over 60 minutes at a time. Do planks and other abs exercises on alternate days.

On training days, do 5-10 minutes of cardio to warm up, then do your weight training. Do 30 to 60 minutes more of cardio, then go home.

The best time to eat is just after your workout within an hour when your metabolism is raging. For your muscles, incorporate some isolated soy protein or whey protein. Whey is more potent but the soy tastes better!

Don't look at your scale as the be all and end all, but get a measuring tape to check your progress, and that will show more tangible results.

Read magazines like Shape, Womens Fitness, Fitness, etc to get tips and to stay motivated.

Good luck and stick at it. This plan has lost me 20 lbs in 12 weeks so far, just go for it!

Change up the speed or incorporate hills, that's if your treadmill inclines. Or maybe try reducing the number of days you run by maybe 4 and go further the distance one of the days...like instead of 6 miles, try 8. Change up your program by running fast for a minute and slow it down for the next...do some intervals. If you're neighborhood is bad, drive to another "safe" location and run there. If you aren't already, listen to music or watch television. Treadmills can only do so much. Good luck and stay safe.

Find a friend, and run with her. Motivate her to go and youre doing a good deed. Go up to some nature place, or a park where there are a lot of people. Stand in one place and just move all your muscles as much as you can to get them working. Run up and down stairs. Use a jump-rope. Bike around. Setup a community thing where you guys run in packs. Find a class that interests you that conditions with running. lol There are many ways, my friend.

they key to keeping up a fitness program is to vary it... one thing you can do if you feel comfy on your treadmill and don't want to go to a gym or join a class is get some really light dumb bells and do a strength training program while you walk up an incline... i would join a fitness class or indoor pool to go to once a week, that way you wouldn't have to get a membership anywhere.... sometimes when i don't want to leave my house i turn on my favorite hip hop and shake my as sin front of the mirror for a hour... it's fun
