6 If a woman does not cover her head, she should have her hair cut off; and if it is a disgrace for a woman to have her hair cut or shaved off, she should cover her head

I am not a muslim, but christians should realise the bible is 'stricter' about appearance than Islam, the Koran does not instruct the woman to wear veils but only to dress modestly, the fact that many muslim woman wear veils has as much to do with tradition as religion.

They shouldn't. I am Roman Catholic, and followed Vatican I until threat of excommunication made me change to Vatican II.......in Vatican I, women were not to enter a church without covering their hair, among other things. I think much of the world is afraid to admit how close Christianity is to other religions. If we open our minds and accept the history of religion, we will see that Mary and Joseph behaved, dressed, and looked much like the Muslims. BOTH Muslims and Christians need to step down off their high horses, and admit that we are ALL children of GOD....and we need to start behaving as such. All of us.

i dont think its wrong ,its just like saying Jews wearing those hats , or nuns wearing those black and white outfits . if its what they believe in , then i think no body should take that away from them ,or criticise them for it . imagine as a non muslim , your married ,have a beautiful wife and kids . and d when your wife dresses up and goes out she looks stunning , and if another guy looks or passes comment on her then you would feel a bit annoyed or upset . and maybe if your wife is fed up with you she might stray , now imagine your wife covers her head and body , and only you get to see whats behind the scarf or under the veil , wouldn't you feel proud that she would do that for you . and that would also prove she has no interest in showing herself off to other men , . that is why a lot of the women do it . and although a lot of people might not agree with it , you have to admit its kinda nice . if a woman is bald she is always going to look basically the same . but if a woman has hair then she can colour and style it which changes the way she looks . so if someone sees a woman walking down the road all cove rd up , no one is really going to make much of a move on her, which means its left to her husband to see .

Is the Islamic practice of "conversion by sword" wrong? Or how about.....is the radical Islamic practice of beheadings wrong?

Criticizing someone about veils seems so trite and unimportant compared to forced conversions and beheadings.

If your question is attemting to show how intolerant Christians are....you'd better go back and start looking at the world around you. Muslims are the ones who are beheading Christians. Muslims are the ones flying planes into buildings. Muslims are the ones threatening the Pope with death.

I personally don't care if Muslim women want to wear a veil or not...but when they insist (like they did in Florida) to have their drivers license photo taken WEARING A VEIL......then thats where I draw the line. That is just idiotic. Your photo on a drivers license is used for IDENTIFICATION. How can it be used for that purpose when you can't see the persons face?

My opinion is that they can wear a veil AS LONG AS IT'S DONE VOLUNTARILY AND NOT FORCED UPON THEM. If someone tells them to wear a veil or they will be beaten...as they do in many Islamic countries.....that is WRONG.

Well when I see women walking around looking like Cousin It from the Addams family in the berkas and they are like that all the time not just for services or specieal occasions and that they can't go out without a male family member, and then I look at a calander and see that it's 2006 not 1406 it really makes me wonder. I saw a special the other day where they found the Afghan girl from the National Geographic cover, and that beautiful little girl now looks like she's in her 60's even though she's only 32 or something, is this what Islam means for it's women?

No they should respect the fact that Muslim women do not flaunt their bodies to men. Another reason for the hijab (cover) is to protect themselves from men that only want them for their looks not their minds. There are plenty of Muslim women that do not cover either, only in prayer. It's up to the woman and the strength of her beliefs. But I know all women will be covered starting from today for the next 33 days.

Muslim women have to be veiled all the time.

Paul says only that women should cover their heads when praying. Many Christians still follow this practice, like Orthodox.

The veil and Islamic dress are similar to what nuns wear.

Yes that is true, that's why Nuns cover their heads too. Wow! I thought no-one would realise.
