He cares because He is our Creator, and knows each and everyone of us by name. He knows what we want before we ask, He knows our exact feelings, thoughts and opinions, and He only wants that we return to the perfection of Eden. An artist wouldn't just dump a good painting into a corner, or a cyclist put a prized trophy in the shed, so why should the higher Lord God simply brush us under the celestial carpet?
We are not insignificant to the Lord so long as we are not trapped by the snares of evil doings, and follow His word. This world is only preparation for the next, so why worry about it?

My three year old son is a delight in every way. Even when he crushes spiders for fun I adore him.

If he comes home when he is 21 and says hes gay I will open champagne because I love him and want him to be happy. If he goes to prison I will be sad but I will still fight with all I have to get him out even if he is guilty.

He is a mere boy. Just a baby really but to me he is wonderful. I imagine God feels pretty much the same about his children.

I hope I never have to be whipped, spat at and crucified to prove my love for my children.

i am a christian:

assuming and presuming "GOD created the universe" statement is false, then the second question makes no sense at all.

assuming and presuming "GOD created the universe" statement is true, then the most probable answer for the question is this,

in the creation story(not creation theory but the text italized in the bible in Gen) the creation of man is put as the last in the chronoloical order of creation, thus it is the hieght of His creation. the fullfillment of His creation.. Just like a painter has done his masterpiece.
man therefore being considered as the very most important of all His creations, much more improtant than the previous creations, it is therefore quite reasonable that God will be worried for his masterpiece.......

Because He made Earth for us. We are just a little lower than God. We are at the center of God's "universe."

Who said that He's worried. The bible doesn't say He is. No God knows exactly what He's doing. He's known since before time began. You are even in that plan. He knows if you love Him, will love Him, or will never turn to Him.
God is control of everything. It us humans that worry.

Well, the whole idea behind religion is to make us the center of God's universe. That way it is not so big and scary to those who are unable to comprehend the vastness of space.
