I don't think it's fear. I think it's more like disdain because atheists won't blindly follow what they perceive to be a justified belief system.

Nope, and this notion that christians fear reasoning is not also true...
i am a christian, i am refrain fro debates(reasoning) to matters i also don't have vast knowledge... i am still learning things abut my faith and will continue to learn until my time is done...
but know what, i reason out to things about my faith that i have great knowldge of...
unlike some people who barks at anything saying they know everything but when they start to talk, its the opposite....
i don't dislike them all... just some who mocks and makes fun of my belief...
atheists or agnostics of these kinds are basically the ignorant one and the blabbers... so deep inside of me, i laugh at them...

Not at all. All of my friends who are my age are either atheist or agnostic. We agree to disagree and move on. We have discussed religion a time or two, but no one's trying to convert the other and they do respect me as a logical individual. I think it flattering when one tells me they consider me a "real Christian."

I worked with athesists, Agnostics, Unbelievers, make believeres, & fake Christains, & Muslims, & just about anything else before I retired. I did not mis- treat not one of them, & they did not mis- treat me, But then if it came to Religion, that is where I told them what I believed in a nice way, & they never bother me again, I did not tell them what I believe in a hateful way, But in a nice way, They saw in my life, That what I believed in, I also lived it. That is a testimony in itself. many times, we don;t have to say anything, All the words in the world will not convince someone, if your life does not measure up to your beliefs.

Christians are afraid of the courage or recklessness they see in atheists because the atheist is questioning something the Christian can't exist without.

I think that knowledge and reason are what they fear the most.
"Reason must be deluded, blinded, and destroyed. Faith must trample underfoot all reason, sense, and understanding, and whatever it sees must be put out of sight and ... know nothing but the word of God." ~ Martin Luther
"Reason is the greatest enemy that faith has; it never comes to the aid of spiritual things, but -- more frequently than not -- struggles against the divine Word, treating with contempt all that emanates from God." ~ Martin Luther
"There is on earth among all dangers no more dangerous thing than a richly endowed and adroit reason... Reason must be deluded, blinded, and destroyed." ~ Martin Luther
"Reason should be destroyed in all Christians." ~ Martin Luther
