It depends on the nature of your relationship at the time and how it ended. That determines the aftermath of the affair.

Have stayed friends with all my exes bar 1. (he was violent but still speak to him!) It makes it a lot easier to walk down the street or go out in the pubs with no awkwardness. It also means I have a lot of friends to call on if I ever need anything. Life's too short for animosity towards others.

Yes. I guess it happens because it is very difficult for the two of us to get involved in new relationships (we not properly 'very good looking people!") and also cause what has separated us was not lack of love, but reasons of major force.
The only problem is that we often end up getting sexual about each other again, and after we staying together things get confuse for a while. But it is nice to have him as a friend cause he is a great guy.

I havent managed to do it successfully really. Like a previous answer said, someone always wants more than the other.

The ex who wanted to be friends I ended up hating for what she did.

When I was happy to stay friends, two ex's wanted to start up again. Its a tricky balance. Because when I did stay friends with one of them, we climbed back into bed and it sent all the wrong messages. My fault and I wouldnt do it again.

I have been friends with my ex for years. I divorced him in 1972- he was an alcoholic who preferred the company of any woman but me, when he was sober. Sad thing is, I never, ever stopped loving him. It has never been any more than friendship all these years, as we both re-married (and both divorced). He is in a Hospice now, dying miles away from me, and I cant even get to see him again, or speak to him, but I wont stop loving him till the day I die.

Yes, I'm good friends with my ex but we do have children together so I spose we have to be. If I ever broke up with my current boyfriend I would want to stay friends with him cos he is the funniest person and makes me laugh so much!

Yes I have ! I have 2 guys that I can speak to at anytime that I use to date& my husband is social with them also. They were good guys but not for me. I do deep in my heart know that think from time to time what if.They were 2 people that I was seriously involved with & I think that it worked out for the best that we didn't last cause they so much better at being my friend than my man.

I have tried it but there is freinds and freinds. I would not know looking back saty in close contact as I have, as you never really move on. Saying Hi in the street is a different matter. Also i had at one time a ex sex buddy that does not work either!
