+ True Christianity +
Most Christians believe true Christianity is about accepting Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior.
Catholics accept Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior.
Mary, the other saints, and the Pope are not as important as this central belief.
+ Mary and the Saints +
Catholics share the belief in the Communion of Saints with many other Christians, including the Eastern Orthodox, Anglican, Episcopal, and Methodist Churches.
The Communion of Saints is the belief where all saints are intimately related in the Body of Christ, a family. When you die and go to heaven, you do not leave this family.
Everyone in heaven or on their way to heaven are saints, you, me, my deceased grandmother, Mary the mother of Jesus, and Mother Teresa.
As part of this family, you may ask your family and friends here on earth to pray for you. Or, you may also ask the Blessed Virgin Mary, Saint Andrew, or your deceased grandmother in heaven to pray for you.
Prayer to saints in heaven is simple communication, not worship.
+ The Bible +
Catholics are encouraged to read the Bible.
The Catechism of the Catholic Church says: The Church forcefully and specifically exhorts all the Christian faithful to learn ‘the surpassing knowledge of Jesus Christ,' by frequent reading of the divine Scriptures. ‘Ignorance of the Scriptures is ignorance of Christ.'
There are four separate Scripture readings during every Sunday Mass.
+ Father +
In context, the Scripture reads, "... And greetings in the markets, and to be called of men, Rabbi, Rabbi. But be not ye called Rabbi: for one is your Master, even Christ; and all ye are brethren. And call no man your father upon the earth: for one is your Father, which is in heaven."
This is call for humility for those in leadership roles. Not to be taken literally.
We are not to deny our male parent and cut the Commandment to honor our father and mother in half.
Some leaders in any church may fall into the same folly as the pharisees of Jesus' day.
+ With love in Christ.

Why do people insult Catholic Christians by classing Protestants as Christians? Protestants have no apostolic succession from Christ and so their ministers have no authority from God. Protestantism is the fruit of rebellion against Christ's church and is characterized by everyone deciding for themselves what they will affirm or deny. It is spiritual anarchy grown from apostasy and the heresies it brings forth have no end.
Okay, I agree Marianism, praying to saints, priestly celibacy and all that has nothing whatever to do with New Testament Christianity, but Catholics have a solid historical claim to authority that no protestant church or protestant preacher has. You cannot lay hands on someone in the New Testament manner and pass authority you have not received, and the passing on of apostolic authority is unique to the Catholic and Orthodox churches who received and maintained it through the ages, for whatever that's worth. A group of protestants can no more ordain you to be a bishop or a deacon in Christ's church than your milkman can ordain you to be a cow.
Personally I think you arguing over whether tooth fairies wear pink or blue. It's all superstitious nonsense.

Wow, you are pretty narrow minded and insulting yourself.
If Catholics do not read the Bible, should I leave it at home when I go to Bible study on Monday night at teh church?
Your prejudiced question is against everything True Christianity is all about.
Go to a catholic website and do some research before you go and show everyone how uninformed you are about Catholicism

Just because Catholics have a greater focus on Mary and the saints than do protestants doesn't mean that they worship them. I've been to several Catholic services, though I am Protestant. They use the Bible, they pray to God and Jesus. They are Christians.
