Okay, Im 37 weeks pregnant and Im due any day now so my doctor has told me. Ive dilated about 2 1/2 centimeters and Ive been this way for about four days. I was wondering if anybody knows any safe ways to help get my labor going. Like to help me get dilated more so I can start having strong contractions. Thanks for the help and hope to hear from someone soon!

I read through all the answers and didn't find that anyone suggested what I used to speed up dilation, after I was about 2 1/2 cm dilated, I started taking long warm baths every evening(30 minutes), that helps soften your cervix. It really helped for me after I started that , we went in to have our baby 5 days later. But don't do this if your water has broken or you've lost your mucus plug.

When I was pregnant, my midwife told me to go home and have sex. As long as your water hasn't broken, your set. Apparently, there is something about the man's semen that has a chemical in it that can help with bringing on labor, plus it maybe the last time you get to due to being sore after birth.
Or, go to the mall and walk! Walk your feet off! But don't forget the credit cards!
I have also included a link for how to lessen pain during birth.
Hope this helps and Good Luck!

Nipple stimulation is supposed to be the number one way to bring on labor naturally. The second best way is walking. I know that sex also works, the males semen naturally softens the cervix. I have read that some people said drink castrol oil but the last thing you want is to have diarrhea while you’re on the delivery table.

WALKING, SEX AND RELAXING

And remember to walk throughout your labor (if you can) and being in shower with hot water hitting your lower back is awesome natural pain relief. Just keep yourself positive and have faith in your abilities. Keeping a positive attitude and stuff helped me have a completely drug free labor. Good luck!!! This is one of those experiences in life that makes you feel like a strong, competent woman capable of anything!!!!

Without sounding dis-tasteful - have you tried Getting an Orgasm?
That along with Spicy food is supposed to accelerate the onset of Labor!

Ok, so i have never tried this but I have been told that my friend did this with one of her kids and they were in the hospital that night. Put a warm cloth on your breasts for 20 min. and then off for 20 min. This is suppose to help you lactate and then you will go into labor.

Have your husband stimulate your breasts. I heard that helps bring on labor. Also take a long walk. Walking helps labor along too.

Try eating a large dish of a tomatoe based pasta like spaghetti, lasagna, or rigitoni.

There really isn't anything scientifically based that will help induce labor except for medications...The only one I would recommend safely would be walking.....Walking helps but don't make yourself exhausted because you will need your energy.
