As a professional stylist, I provide my clients with a free consultation to the brides, I have books with just elegant designs for them to get ideas from, them we just play around with it so we will know exactly what we are going to do the day of, less stressful on the big day....I also tell them to not wash their hair the day of, do it the day before as hair stays better styled, it wont be so soft. The next thing is to find out what kind of veil they are wearing, some bring it to the consult. Also I tell them to wear a button up shirt so they wont have to pull it over their head. One style that I do on long hair is to roll with hot sticks or benders, they are rollers that are stick shaped and bend, they get very hot, I roll it vertical sections, take it down and just run my fingers thru it, no comb or brush. The front I sometimes leave little pieces of hair down, the top sides and crown section I gather it back twist it then pin it and place the curls with my fingers. then the back just pull curls out with fingers and let hang down. of course spray spray spray!

Try putting the sides up into a soft bun, let some sides of the hair down as tendrils and curl them for a soft look. Leave the rest of the hair down and curl them for a soft wavy look.

ARE YOU SAYING you would where half up and half down? sounds like you may need a good stylist. this is the reason it is good to have a relationship with a good one. know this. stylists will have a ball doing wedding hair. it sounds like a simple style is what you may want with may be a small braid either twisted up with hairdecor or just worn downwith a nice trim on the bottom of your "down hair". it will only look nice down if you have nice hair and nice hair requires trims so there you have it?

And updo with the back hanging long (like a french roll) if you're going for the classic look. Try different styles with the type of headpiece you plan to wear.

Go to a salon and ask them. They normally have lots of different ideas and they normally have different book that you can look through.

This isn't fancy, but find a cute barette and try putting it half-up. If you like curls, they probably will look cute.
