Any treatments out there to undo this. I saw a documentary on Fox Tv about a procedure, similar to angioplasty, whereby the nasal bones are cracked, in order to open up the airway, and the patient noticed remarkable improvemnt in the way she sounded. Any views on this?

Some people have sinusitis.
That is an overlapping skin like tissue on the nasal passage.
There is a cure for that which is simply to cut the tissue.
It is painless. I had it done when I was around 9 or 10.

Deviated septum is corrected by surgery...can sometimes cause a nasal voice, but not always. Nasal sounds are often (unless re-educated) a learned way of talking.

Learning to speak is via mimicking, so those with parents/community that sound nasally will raise kids to speak that same way. Some language/dialects tighten the back of the throat rather than opening it up.

For example Fran Drescher does not have a nasal sounding voice normally but as an actress she has to learn to change it to sound like she's from Queens?

Correcting a deviated septum wont help the person unless that is the only thing effecting the voice. My hubby had a deviated septum and he didnt sound nasally at all, he did have an alternating side stuffy nose most of the time but learned to compensate I guess. Having the surgery didnt change his voice at all....just stopped him from jumping awake from his sleep at night due to unclear airways preventing him from breathing.
