The questions should be "what foods bring on your migraines"?

I am a severe migraine sufferer and have been told that caffeine sometimes helps slow or dull the headache, but you have to be careful then of rebound headaches.

I was also told to try tomato juice. To be honest, when my migraines come on I agree with another writer - I not only cannot think of food my migraines will not alleviate until I start violently vomiting and pass out (nice huh?) so I do not want to think of food.

What you need to do is try to find out your triggers - which may or may not be foods. And instead of turning your back on all medications - find out what works and only use it when truly having a migraine. I have finally found 2 meds. that work if I take them immediately. Since my insurance covers next to nothing and these cost $20 - $25 per pill I am lucky that my doctor gives me samples. I carry a couple with me at all times.

There are some bio-feedback techniques that might help you. Check into something like that. You may also want to talk to a holistic doctor. I saw one who helped me control the headaches somewhat through herbal meds.

Good luck and feel better. I know how miserable you can be with these headaches....you are not alone.

Caffeine helps migraines. That's why I take Excedrin Migraine tablets (which contain caffeine among other things) when I feel one coming on. I've also resorted to aspirin and strong coffee when I don't have Excedrin Migraine handy.

For me, when I get migraine, first day I am unable to eat. Sleep it off, but then next day it's still kinda there. To get rid of it, eat a big healthy breakfast with lots of protien and minimal refined sugar (honey is ok as it has lots of enzymes). Eggs, orange juice, milk, cereal, fruit, the works! This will usually get rid of mine, after a few hours, it's gone. (Note: some things will make it worse or come back from my experience: carbs, anything with MSG like hot dogs, anything with refined sugar in it). Hope this helps some.

Find out the triggers that cause them. A journal for a couple of weeks, detailing food, weather, other health issues and STRESS really helps. My son has had them since he was two. Tracking these things has really helped. Common triggers: seasonal pressure changes, nitrates (found in deli meats and processed junk like bologna/hot dogs/cured sausages), MSG (flavor enhancer found in lots of asian food and boxed junk meals). Good luck!

sometimes you have migraines because you don't drink enough. I would say drink more, try if it helps.
Coffee helps me.
