Most of the beta and alpha carotene you consume will be converted by your liver long before it effects skin pigmentation.Copper will probably have a more profound effect on melanin production and skin pigment.Levels of beta carotene high enough to effect skin tone are probably far outside reasonable doses.Exercise is more likely to help by increasing circulation to the vessels closest to the skins surface(a cooling mechanism) as will niacin. The fact of the matter is most foods will not have a drastic effect in pigmentation

Yes it does, but it is an artifical orange tone color - probably not the golden you are looking for.

There are a lot of new lotions on the market that have very subtle self-tanners in them. If you get one for fair skin, it will give you just a hint of color as it is diluted self tanner. Inexpensive ones are Jergens, Dove, etc.

hth!

It will redden your skin (after all beta carotene is a pigment) but will not give you a tan-like darker skin colour...

You may want to be careful. If you take a large dosage over an extended period of time you could begin to have an orange cast appear to your skin.
