I've tried most combinations I can think of, but I can never get all the different combinations working without swapping cables about. Thanks for any help

My TV has only 1 scart socket.
The aeriel first goes into my DVD recorder that has freeview built-in for the strongest signal, then into my sky digibox then the VCR and finally the TV.
I have 2 scart cables going from my digibox to the DVD and TV, but the DVD doesn't go to the TV because if I play a DVD it takes priority over the digibox signal and is looped through the digibox but I need the telly on the channel tuned into the DVD RF channel to avoid interference from the digibox picture (this might be from my old TV though).
Then I have another scart cable going from the DVD to the video so I can watch videos through the DVD when it is turned to AV2.
If I want to record from my digibox to the VCR though I have to have the DVD turned to AV2 and the VCR on AV2 and then I can't watch a DVD!
Are you as confused as I now am, and I wired it up!

Go to Argos and get a SCART switching box that allows you to switch between inputs and outputs on a SCART connected system. You can buy a cheap manual one, or even get a remote controlled SCART control box there, item no. 534/4462.

SCART is a disaster area for an international connecting system. Plugs that fall-out, end-entry cables.... complete crap system
