hey Vincent. First things first... you are not alone! There are many people, including myself who suffer with such feelings. You add the question about when is the bad ppatch going to end which signifies that this is a more longer lasting problem than the odd 'down day' that we all get.
I work in mental health and also suffer from depression. I guess the first thing is to seek advice from your GP to have this diagnosis confirmed - if it is indeed depression. If it is, remember that you are not alone and that the diagnosis is the first step to recovery and the end of the bad patch...
I take medication daily and have no side effects. My bad patch has ended and the down times are far less frequent and intense than they were. They are managed also by a couple of lifestyle changes. I manage to maintain my managerial/supervisory role at work and life feels good!
Medication may not be required - there are talking therapies that your doctor may also be able to help with. Often there is a delay with these - though if you work you may find that your employer has an employee assitance program or occupational health dept that may have access to counselling far quicker.
Life may feel crap right now - this is a temporary feeling. Talk about it with your doctor and trusted friends. This really is temporary. it may halp to take a look at some websites too.
best wishes, pete

Everyone has bad patches and wishes they never had to wake up so early. I've been up since 2:30 a.m. with my son who had dyspnea. among other things. It took the hospital two hours to get around to treating him and the pharmacy for his meds won't be open till 9 a.m. I suppose at some point I'll sleep...and so will he. At least he can breathe now.... And that's only a little of my family's bad patch. So I'm sure there are others with it worse.
Just wanted to share that with someone who doesn't want to get up this morning coz life is "so crap." It'll get better. Good day.

Hi, i often feel that way, go to your dr, he will give you some help, maybe in the form of pills, or maybe a counsellor so that you can talk to someone who wont judge you, You need to find out why you feel the way you do, i also suffer with depression and think when will it ever end, but it does get better, and at times it will get worse again, just take each day at a time and try to see the good in things, like the sunshine, at least you're still here to see it, you have a future, make sure you find something to fill it with, if you're lonely try to make lots of friends, change your job, join a club, go to college, or open university, they all give chances of meeting people, the best way to make yourself feel better is to help someone worse off than yourself, go and volunteer to help at a hospital, or anywhere that do a caring profession. As you get on with things your life will get brighter and you will feel better, i really hope this helps you, i know how bad it can get, when you're at the bottom just remeber the only way is up, try to be positive and care for someone else. take care and good luck.

Everyone goes through bad patches in life. All you have to do is try to see the best in them. And if you feel like not getting up in the morning think of all the people who are worse off than you (all of the people living in poverty for example). Dont worry it will get better.

Most of the time....But the bad patch will end as soon as you stop thinking like that & wake up in the morning asserting to yourself that you will see the positive in everything happening to you.....

everybody feels that way sometimes. the best thing to do though is to be a busy person . ( i think ) i had a friend who had no job and few interests and hobbies - he would just mouch around his flat feeling sorry for himself - i wont tell u what happened to him but it was not good. sitting around at home analyzing your life is the worst possible thing to do. if you got no job , try to get one . if you got no friends join some clubs . also dont allow yourself to develope a negative view of life which at times is not easy , it may sound weird but try to force yourself to be positive in your outlook.

Sure, we all do at some time. Your bad time will end when you decide it will end. Mine will end today when I decide to get off the couch and do something with my day. You can do it too! Take care.

When you suffer from chronic illness, prolonged grief, persistant feelings of self loathing.... ?? Get help from a doctor, there are people trained to help you or medications that help you cope or re-balance what's amiss. Make an appointment Monday.
