I moved into a house where there were little dogs that had little accidents. Now my big dogs are having big accidents(?). Short of pulling up the carpet is there any way to get rid of the odor & how do I stop my dogs from "re-marking" their territory. They were all housebroken before this. Everything I see advertised is really expensive & only comes in small sizes & doesn't really work. I want something I can put in a carpet shampooer. Any ideas? Thanks in advance for any help!

Nature's Miracle. you can purchase this at any pet store, but also pick up a black light. use it to scan over your carpet at close range to see the hidden spots that are producing odor, but not visible. Use Frebreeze spray after you are statisfied with the above treatment.

Pets who urinate in the same spot over and over again after your having thoroughly cleaning the area are reacting to the pheremones that are chemically embedded either in the carpet, carpet padding, or subflooring. If you haven't tried an oxygenating cleaner like Oxyclean, you might want to. Otherwise you can try: drsfosterandsmith.com which is a pet supply catalog company. They do have several products listed that might serve your needs, and a couple that would go into a carpet shampooer. They also have an 800 number for any questions you have and support.

Urine is a powerful scent and remains long after you thing you've cleaned it up.

If the urine is old, I'm of the school that thinks NO
THING will work for you. There are any number of products you can use to help get rid of the smells and stains, but think what is under your carpet...the padding...and cleaners do NOT get that deep. You will be better served by getting rid of the nasty carpet and pad and replacing with tile or linoleum or if you rent, peel and stick tiles, which are much less expensive and can be individually replaced when damaged....provided you bought extra....smiling.

Good luck. OH...Renuzit works well, but it won't mask the scent for your dogs...they have amazing olfactory nerves!

Your dog behaves like a small child if you are a dog-owner, and care and attention is what is needed to keep him well-behaved. I have a handsome black Labrador, and is a Gentleman much more than me. It is important to give him importance throughout the day. I taught him to fetch the newspaper, and use the toilet, and enjoy baths (We even share a bath-tub sometimes!). Your dog behaves like humans in matters of jealousy, just like a mistress envies the wife. Otherwise, why do you think he tries to seize your attention by pulling you, whenever he DOES something.

It is important to RECOGNIZE his achievements. It is important to REWARD his smart acts. It is important to keep talking to him all the time. My dog is named BASTARD, and I rebuke him sometimes, just the way I would a small child. I believe in punishing him for a wrong act, by not giving him his favorite food after showing promise (I feed chicken). Dogs believe in gentleman values, and are very principled like some humans, so they UNDERSTAND if they deserved the punishment.

If you really LOVE your dog, he's hardly going to stray out of territory, and always behaves like a Gentleman. I am really proud of BASTARD, he's an intelligent and sensitive person. I don't even feel he's an animal or something like that.

About the odor, well Bastard and me smell the same. I smell no better than him, so can't really help you on that. Maybe you can use perfumed water for his bath. I use mild soap, and he's fine.

If it's really bad that probably means it soaked into the wooden floor underneath. If that's the case you'll have to pull the carpet and clean the wood. Try renting a rug doctor they have them almost everywhere and it's only $20 They work great. That might help.

Try some kind of bleach alternative that is safe for colors. Bleach is the best thing for killing odors but as you know bleach isn't safe forever situation. I use Tide w/bleach in mine sometimes. The vet that I work for has some spray, not sure what it is called or where to get it but it is suppsed to neutralize the smell. you might call your local vet and ask them about it. Good Luck

On HGTV the other night, there was a lady's cats that kept going in the hallway on carpet/hardwood floor, they used vinegar and water and let it set there and the wiped it up after about 5 mins.

They usually have carpet stuff that takes away the pet oder. I would try using that and when you vacuum, use a deodorizer and that will help as well as make the house smell better!

Go to Sam's club and get Odoban, it is great for carpets, leaves them smelling wonderfully fresh. You can use it for other cleaning also.
